Hoping Zeppo smiley - dog will not spend all his time frolicking on the beach with Pinniped.

Hey Pinniped! Wasn't prodding you smiley - biggrin Well, not much. Was just thinking how nice it was to fub flippers with you again. Glad you made it here again, though.

Pinniped

Can I have one, too?
*munch*
"Fub" is a word with possibilities. Definite overtones of intimate blubber contact. Maybe not exactly what you meant, Sol? Right, yeah. Take your point...
What else to say? Films and books - Dune, as example.
Maybe there are some books that can just never work as a film. Films present someone else's vision for you to consider. Certain books invite you to create your own vision, and that's their main appeal.
Bookwise, Dune is not LOTR (say), so the expectation for the film isn't as great. But in the end the impossibility of telling the story of a dynasty in about 90 minutes, plus this "not how I imagined it" problem, make for an unsatisfying film.
Oh yeah, it's hard to make sandstorms visually convincing, too.
Mmmm...any more of those?

I said fub and I meant fub. I stand by my words, and let my actions speak for themselves...

Watched Top of the Pops two thousandth edition last night. I don't watch the show much these days, and last night only confirmed that I am no longer a fan of "popular" music. I was kind of shocked that the Quo had been on it so much though.

Why, Montana, what can you mean?

I'm just going to pop over to Ab's place with a pressie now, as he's off on holiday for his big day himself...

{[caer csd] just got back from shopping to get H some new trousers and shirts for our holiday and bought an armchair, as you do.

d'E it is National Take Your smiley - dog to Work Day here on Tues. If it was the same there, you may have one day when Zeppo didn't make you late for w*rk by hiding at the top of the stairs.

Possibly going to an evening balloon ascent tonight, called a Nightglow, at Losely Park a privately owned stately home. It depends on the strength of the wind, which has dropped a bit today.}

not bad floods, just water coming in under door and wetting carpet. six inches of rain and hail and thunder and lightning in two hours

okay, in my book, water coming into the house under the door and getting the carpet wet is bad enough.....did it dry okay?

I've discovered that I can, in fact, build things quite well. I'm just sick of my tv stand and the lack of bookshelves (I have way too many books for what shelving I have), so last night, I designed a three-section wall unit that looks like a buit-in cabinet, and funnily enough, when I talked to my dad about it today, he said it sounded good. I emailed him my plans, and he wants to know when I am going to come and build one for him....

smiley - blush And he's like Norm Abrams! Well, okay, he does metal, not wood, but you get the idea.

{[caer csd] I hope the weather is improving your way Lil and that no more water is coming in. I bet it upset the cats.

We get This Old House and New Yankee Workshop over here! We could also do with some decent storage, do you do commissions MR?

Didn't get to the Night Glow thing as it became very overcast, wind started to get up and it felt distinctly chilly so we settled for a bottle of smiley - redwine and catching up with video recordings. Most annoyed to find that in spite of setting the recorder an extra two minutes we still managed to miss the end of the last instalment of Sparkhouse smiley - cross If anyone knows what happened at the end, tell me and put me out of my misery.}

Caer, let me see how mine turns out first....
do you think I ought to put adjustable shelves in? Or should I make them solid? I was thinking of doing the peg holes in the side and putting in those little things that hold up shelves. that way, if I get more books, or have smaller books, I could move things around.

54Xth Conversation

{[caer csd] definitely adjustable shelves, much more versatile.}

Candi - now 42!

smiley - wow MT - I'm impressed - I struggle to put together the simplest flat pack!

Thanks for all your comments about the website - as for my music.....

I'm not doing noise any more...what I'm doing now I'd put in the "experimental electronica" bracket if I had to pigeonhole!
I hope you'll listen to an mp3 of my more recent stuff (quite ambient but weirdish) when I put it online....I'll let you know when it's up and give you the link smiley - biggrin

About live stuff....well, when I did participate in noise gigs, basically every performance was almost completely improvised and unrehearsed - in a way it was more performance art than anything else.....
for the music I'm doing now, I really need a laptop (among other things) to perform properly live...and I'm getting a simple video of visuals together to provide something for the audience to watch smiley - smiley

I'd go for adjustable shelves every time. Do you have a full set of power tools for this sort of thing, MR?

I've been working on Graphic Ants again this evening. I want to finish it before the Community Artists scheme goes public. I've uploaded a smiley of Kofi Annan that I did as a joke for Abi's amusement. It'll never see the light of day on h2g2 due to the sad possibility of smiley abuse but I thought I might share it with the salonistas. It's at the bottom of the table on http://www.amytheant.co.uk/smileys/reg_smiley.htm
