I'd go for adjustable shelves every time. Do you have a full set of power tools for this sort of thing, MR?
I've been working on Graphic Ants again this evening. I want to finish it before the Community Artists scheme goes public. I've uploaded a smiley of Kofi Annan that I did as a joke for Abi's amusement. It'll never see the light of day on h2g2 due to the sad possibility of smiley abuse but I thought I might share it with the salonistas. It's at the bottom of the table on http://www.amytheant.co.uk/smileys/reg_smiley.htm

Just had a look at the link, Amy - very good Kofi smiley!
Loved the dragon too - when are we getting that one?
Actually, looked at a lot of Graphic Ants the other day - really enjoyed it, especially the fashion show!

Something else I meant to mention - I heard the Now show yesterday and at the end of the show was a satirical song sung as if by the shrub, which seemed almost too likely to be truthful to be funny!
You can listen to it here:

Good link, Candi . But in the weather forecast that follows the end of the program they recommend that everyone in Leeds should move to Manchester for the sunshine .
Dragons. Yes, dragons. We presented Mina with a plethora of dragons but she has failed to do anything with them.

*puts some mbougatses in a bowl and puts it on the floor for Zeppo, looking around to make sure the unaus aren't nearby*
Speaking about the unaus - does anyone know if Springie and Ripley are still busy doing TV commercials?
Book shelves - I got so desperate for more of them myself that I emptied some cupboards of shelves (and put the contents in cardboard boxes instead inside the cupboards) and sawed off some pieces to make them fit into my book shelves instead - I've decided to keep pocket books separated from the other books, since they are usually smaller, meaning I can put more shelves in to one bookcase
A pity about dragon smileys - it would have been nice to have one to add to my Dark Times story (probably very soon)

Actually, Amy, my husband is somewhat of a woodworker (although his stuff is more art than function), so I'm all set. Also, I called Home Depot (I love that store!), and for an extra ten bucks, they'll cut everything down to size for me. If I call them ahead of time, they'll have it ready for me. So yeah, I think I'm set.
Yes, I think I will be doing adjustable shelves. I think that will work better. And since I can't hang pictures in straight lines, I think I will go with those metal strips with brackets. Although if I can find an easy way to do the hole/shelf support plug thing, I will.

[Amy] - I'm not really here because I don't want to cause confusion when I arrive on my dragonFLYbot from the Quest later on.
Woodwork: Go for it, MR! I loved woodwork at school. I like the smell of it.
Dragons: I could draw you a dragon, Titania... if you could get permission from Shazz to have one made.
Unaus: Yes, they're still advertising contact lenses .

[not really here either, in case Atelier becomes an emergency case]
I was thinking of a dragon smiley, Amy - for now, I think I'll go with the already existing blobbed pictures - I've already selected one to weave my story around...

It's round about quarter past two in the morning here, so I think I shall make myself not really here and go to bed!

{[caer csd] *feeling somewhat weary after a brisk walk in the Surrey Hills*
How do you get so much detail into such little images, Amy?
A chain of timber merchants here, Jewsons, will also do cut to size orders and is an Aladdin's cave for woodworkers. The smell of sawn timber takes me right back to childhood when my Dad used to make things for the house.
The men of the household are sat in front of the telly watching the Italian Grand Prix. I used to love F1 until ITV bought the rights and adverts broke up the live race. I lose concentration and track of the race and now find it boring }

I've been looking up how to go about getting a copy of my birth certificate. It appears that I have to go to the Family Records Office in London in person .

Amy
If you know which office your birth was registered with, I think they can provide a copy but I think you still have to turn up in person.

{[caer csd] I had to obtain full copies of the sons' birth certificates a couple of years ago and got them through the post. I phoned the local Registrar's office who gave me the addresses of the Offices I had to apply and the whole thing was done by post.
Have you tried www.statistics.gov.uk Amy? there is even a pdf form for applying for applications of copies. Although in the light of recent events it is possible things have been tightend up since I applied.}

That was the website I was looking at Caer but I went back to look for that pdf file you mentioned and found the bit about postal requests .

[Not here either, for all intents and purposes]
I have just sorted out my linin closet and feel ever so proud. Instead of not being able to get anything else in after I've been soving the stuff in any old which way, my entire collection of sheets, pillowcases, douvet covers, towels and hankerchiefs are all there, with plenty of room to sparee. And not a wrinkle in sight.
Key: Complain about this post
