I just found out that Frank the Pug's program-plugins doesn't work on NT4.. Disappointing.
But today it's so warm that I've almost stopped working too... All I can do is just sit here and sweat.

We are getting a very slight shower today. Just enough to spot my windscreen and make me want to wash my car again.
Oh well, washing the car give me an excuse to water the lawn. As we are in drought conditions you can only do that sort of activity after 1800 and I figure that I can kill two birds with one stone by washing my car on the lawn. It is less expensive to do this rather than going to a carwash, and better for our grass.

Titania (gone for lunch) Posted Aug 2, 2002
Patience sea dear, patience - for some of us dialup is the only option...
Pitch dark outside at 10.30 pm - partly because of cloudy evening, partly because darker times are approaching - hours between sunset and sunrise have already increased from 6 hours at midsummer to 7.5 hours - and soon the sun won't be up high enough to shine on me while I'm waiting for my commuter train in the morning - half of the platform is already in the shade...
...but the weather has been odd this year - I spotted fresh green birch catkins this morning...

Come to think of it, dialup is my only option from home - from w*rk is quite a different thing!
But posting from w*rk isn't always that easy - I remember when I was just one point away from becoming the H2IQ champion, and I kept missing the question day after day because of stupid interruptions like phone calls, or people walking into my office (like my boss) or lunchtime, or...

yeah, i have that problem too. actually, my problem is that when i get onto h2g2, i tend to lose track of time, and at w*rk we only have three computers for 20-something people. ah well.

Ha, you think dialup is bad, sea, you should try it on my phone line...
Smoke was from the forest fires which are raging accross Russia. Particularly bad in the Nizhny Novgorod region, where the peat has gone up too and bits of Siberia, I believe, but enough here to shroud the city in smoke for a few days, Moscow being pretty surrounded by forest. Seems to have gotton a bit better over the last day or so. It has been raining abit, too, praise be...

{[caer csd] Gosh its quiet in here! I was going to do some gardening, but we had a thunder storm here and showers afterwards, so the ground is too wet now.}

I had the same storm, Caerwynn. Lots of thunder on its own for ages and then torrential rain. Unfortunately that meant a long tea break for the electricity workers who were trying to restore power to my village. It went off at 8am and finally came back just after 6pm.

With anime DVDs running in the background, thanks to rainy afternoon
*looking up* Mike A is six foot three!! And a shy, gentle soul in person. Techie little brother all over the computers, teaching himself Bryce. The parents are splendid people, all getting on marvelously. Alamogordo tomorrow, Carlsbad after that. Have read all backlog, wish Munchers best on his excellent OS adventure and join Titania in bidding sea -- patience! dialup is all we backwoodsers have!

we've ethernet. always had dial-up before, and frankly, i don't know how much better this is....unless it's 6 am, it's still sloooow.
the small person has announced her desire to make dinner. so, tonight we are having sloppy joes (i don't even know if she knows what they are....!), salad, and a vanilla pudding/ chocolate chip/ oreo crust pie. she is very proud of the pie, since the only thing i helped with was plugging in the mixer. now, on to the salad. she very well may enjoy chopping things up. let's all think positively, and hope she doesn't lose any extremities!

Isn't it quiet in here? The weather in Leeds remains changeable. I'm cooking some tomato soup (from scratch, not a tin ), fiddling around with a picture of iced tea ingreediments for the h2g2 front page and putting off some important paperw*rk.
