I wonder if Babel will see Dunnottar Castle while he's up there?
*wanders through the empty salon*
*...empty except for Chloe, who has dragged all the cushions off the sofas and is hoovering up popcorn, pencils, earrings and coins in about 7 different denominations*
Well, I'll look in again tomorrow afternoon.

What ho, erm, all!
Eatsmice, you may know my dad, you say?
Is his surname the same as mine, i.e. Tonks?
See, my user name and VR identity here is the same as my RL name, only with a professorship - if that's the word - added on.
And that was a beautiful dedication you wrote for your friend...

*A strange looking robot teleports into the room, and suspends it in mid-air. After waiting a few minutes, the 'bot realizes that it won't be getting a tip, and hits the "On" button. The 'bot teleports out as the message begins to play. Affy's face appears on the monitor. He appears to be standing on a beach, with standard green water, pink sand, and a purplish-mauve sky. This last effect may be caused by the setting suns (all three of them), or possibly the smoking volcano in the background. Affy is frantically working on some strange looking transportation device, and looks into the screen*
Hi, everyone! Sorry about not being on h2g2 for about a Fortnight, but my computer (V'Ger, for those of you unfamiliar with him) had a virus. So, I tried to get to h2g2 the hard way. As a result, I crash-landed on this planet. I think it's called Winkerbean-8, or something. Virtually uninhabbited. Anyway, before I need to stop using my solar cells because of the suns setting, or before the Mt. Funky goes off again, I just wanted to send you this message saying that I really miss everyone right now, and I'll be back soon.
BTW, Lil, I think that...*hiss, static, crackle, snap*...has been left on downstairs. Now, while I don't think it'll go off before I return, you might...*static, crackle, pop*...it, just in case, because if it goes off, you're all pretty much dead. Just head on downstairs, and follow these instructions carefully. Now,...
*The volcano in the back ground begins spewing magma and ash into the sky*
Oh, darn. Not again. Fifth time tonight,...look, I'll have to get back to you later. This thing's not going to be very compatible with the repairs I'm making. Bye!
*The message ends, and the monitor hovers onto the Buisiness Card table. It flashes, indicating that the message can be replayed again by anyone who wishes to see it*

Lil, the house guest is a Kiwi mate who has lived in Brisbane since the late 70s. He chose to live there as his bride - a lass he met on a small plane flying from London to Iceland where they both planned to work packing fish - was an Australian.
He was back for a funeral and stayed on for an extra week.

Prof, thanks for your comments.
Don't know your dad, but you share a first name with my friends son, whose way of life is remarkably close to yours.
Off to roll my Easter egg

*comes in from her apartments and notices the flashing monitor on her way to the kitchen*
Make me some tea, Matina? Thanks.
*Lil watches the replay and stands there for a minute, chin in hand*
OK, pour my tea into a mug. I'll be downstairs if anybody asks. *accepts mug from Matina and heads down the stairs to the workshops to see what's been left on*

Hey! Finally ran into my own posting! *sigh of relief*
Tony Hillerman? Like him, read everything I've been able to find, some in Swedish, and some in English, not yet translated
Tad Williams? Yep, just finished Otherland II, now looking for III
*picks up Springie for a cuddle and champagne bottle from fridge*
Matina, a Y please...
*suddenly realizing that she says please! to IIEM, but please... to Matina*
Hmmmm... I guess I just think of Matina as more human, sort of...

Eatsmice, there are more of /me/ out there!?
Good Heavens! The world is in safe hands!
Couldn't pop online without wishing you all a Happy Easter.
Y'know, I think it was only a few days ago now that I have been on h2g2 for an entire year now! My, my, how time flies!

Hullo, all. I swear, I spent my whole morning hiding eggs for the little one. Again, again. She sounded like a teletubby *gasps in horror*!
Gave up on the Galileo paper, decided to recycle a ten year old paper on Dante. Figured it was safe. Is it plagarism if you wrote it yourself, or is it just a cheap way of dealing with the fact that you don't have any urge to have an original thought?!
Spent the rest of my day mucking out the plum trees in the yard...hard to do when the house has been a rental for some 15 years, and no one has ever done any sort of real yard work. Tons of wood, good thing a friend has a woodburning stove! I think we gained a full three feet in the backyard.

[sea] that's what i think of YOU, mr teacherman!
*sea notices everyone staring at her and blushes*
[sea] err, i don't think it's plagiarism if you wrote it yourself, montana... heh.
