On the radio just now, the question of water quality in the aquifer was being discussed. They had a fellow on the phone who reassured us that bacteria do not prolificate underground.
Prolificate?

Witty Moniker Posted Apr 12, 2001
According to the dictionary with a com and a dot, it's a real word.
prolificate \Pro*lif"ic*ate\, v. t. [See Prolific.] To make prolific; to fertilize; to impregnate. --Sir T. Browne
But propagate sounds better, don't you think?

[33] Finally got another browser running. Still think that the old Netscape 4.x runs best so far.
May get small post tomorrow (good friday) as I'm then off to see the folks for th long easter weekend.

Just a quick Hi and Bye.
About to sink my nose into Terry Goodkind's Faith of the Fallen, the
latest in the series (that I've seen anyway).
Lil, had thought about posting the scans again, but after emailing the first one to mrs eats sister, who promptly said "Oh, so and so used to look at scans as a job and she'll be able to tell on the next one...". Since we don't want to know the sex or anything about it until it pops out, its a bit to risky to post
However it comes out, it'll be our child and important in its own special way.
off to my book..............night all, and have a good Easter where ever you go.

Have a lovely weekend, 33.
Lil, I definitely agree to our own splinter faction of the Zaphodistas. (You've probably already posted there, as I am late in replying, but I wanted to let you know that I agree with you as well.)
Hi, WM! Haven't typed at you for a while. How are things with you? And, yes, propagate would have been a better word. But then the caller wouldn't have gotten to show off his vocabulary.
Prof, the car sounds luverly! No doubt, your dad should have a remote control for the cd changer. (I've seen such beasties on occassion.) You will have to tell us how the first drive goes!
Well, the day is nearly over and now I have a hockey game to prepare to watch. Have a lovely night, all.

Matina, I need the biggest bailey's on the rocks you can find, please!
Hullo, all. Just finished reading all the backlog after taking a brutal test on Nationalism in the Middle East. Yikes! Did ya'll know that Hussein was abused for the first 11 years of his life? Poster child for an end to child abuse if there ever was one. If he hadn't been beaten, we might never have heard of him...
Ah, yes. I do love the backlog. My .02 on the various thoughts:
Witty, the Hyperion Series is great. Have you read all 4? I kinda liked how he wrapped it all up at the last.
Marv, you have a strange way of looking at animation. I do like Titan AE, and Fern Gully, but I still think Lion King is way up there, as is Vampire Hunter D (a lavish japanese anime), and Bug's Life. I don't know...traditional animation is getting a bit flat. No pun intended. And you got tickets to the Phantom Menace midnight premiere, too, huh? Are you sure we shouldn't just forget the Fraulein and my sig other and just run off together? I nearly cried at the opening credits, because I had waited so long!
Gw7en, a woman after my own heart. Tad Williams and Eddings are my top two, as well. I am anxiously awaiting the next book from the Otherworld series! I guess both of them really go there, get into the characters, create real people, particularly Williams. Although I must say that I prefer the Sparhawk books to the Belgariads. What do you think?
Also, one last question (such a long post!)...is Spykids too old for a five year old?

*Waves to 33, eatsmice and G7.*
Looks like everyone is getting an early start on the holiday weekend.
My kids' school district is backwards this year, they gave the kids the week ~before~ Easter for holiday. All because the state of New Jersey, in it's infinite wisdom, scheduled standardized tests for our fouth graders (9 & 10 year olds) next week.

Red, I loved Sparhawk too. The Belgariad, however, was my first introduction to Eddings, so I will always have a special place in my heart for Garion, Polgara and the rest. His newest, Redemption of Althalus, is some of his best work, though. If you haven't read it yet, I highly recommend it.
I think that a five-year-old will be ok with SpyKids. The theme might be a little much - although it wouldn't surprise me if that weren't true anymore - but there are plenty of wonderful visuals that will keep them glued to the screen. Just looking back in my memory, I would have to say that the majority of the kids in the audience were probably between 5 and 11. There is, just to warn you, some violence, but most of it is handled very well - neither trivialized nor glamourized.
In terms of animation, Princess Mononoke wins. Hands down. No arguements. Although, I do love Titan AE, Mulan and the Aristocats as well. And I was first in line for the rerelease of Sleeping Beauty.

Hi, Montana. Nice to meetcha.
Hyperion: I was amazed at how Simmons was able to tie everything together. Especially with that backwards time travel sub-plot.
Star Wars: Being as I'm getting old and cranky, I waited for daylight to see it. But it was opening day. Hubby and I had a ball while the 14 year old pretended she wasn't with us. The 9 year old still thinks her parents are okay, though.

My dad took me to see the first Star Wars movie when I was nine. It was amazing and wonderful, and I loved it. This is what I mean, waiting so long for Phantom Menace...we're talking over 20 years! But it was worth the wait, although Lucas was obviously rusty with directing, and Jar Jar Binks must die. Then again, I hated the ewoks, too. Not a big fan of the soft and cuddly.
Gw7en, I forgot about Mulan! Love that movie, both for the animation and the plot. Girl power...a good lesson for the little ones. And I forgot to mention Hercules. Kinda silly, but I really did like it.

E and I went to a day showing of E1, because we were working nights at the time and were too late to get tickets to the 12:01 showing. The earliest show we could get tickets for was the 11:00 am show. We were still a very loud bunch, though.
The only kid that was brought was our friend's newborn. She was way too young to be embarassed, but no doubt will have plenty of opportunity later when proud parents tell of their daughter's first movie.

It was the summer between my junior and senior years of college when episode 4 was released. I must have seen that movie 9 times that summer. Those were the days.
And we have the 4, 5 & 6 in letterbox on VHS. Fortunately, just as we were wearing out those tapes, the enhanced anniversary edition was released. Now, if only Lucas would cave in and issue them on DVD...
And I hope both he and I live long enough so episodes 7, 8 and 9 see the light of day.

Gnight Witty. Bet this will be an extremely quiet weekend.
I went over to the Zaphodista page to post a collective statement and discovered that Peta had already resigned because of something especially antisocial that the Subcommandante had posted on the Welcome Page. Several other Zaphodistas then resigned, and I appended my comments to that thread. It seemed appropriate.

A couple of points from the backlog.
Peter Jackson has said (on NZ TV) he needs the year gaps between episodes of LOTR to do justice to film 2 and film 3.
Hearing of Harry Secombe's death made me think of a comment Spike Milligan made last year upon hearing Harry had been diagnosed with cancer.
"Good. That means he wan't be singing at my funeral."
Naturally, Harry led the laughter at Spike's somewhat bad-taste comment.

Thank heavens, just one more day of air traffic at 7 in the morning. This has been the most boring air show I can remember. The only excitement I've had is down at the complicated intersection, where the tourists keep going the wrong way on the slip roads or changing lanes at the last nanosecond. There've been several road accidents, and one air fatality, an ultralight.
So, where've you been, Looney?
