Hi Affy
I'm heading to London next month so I may just have to go and remind myself how impressive IMAX is.

Oh, a cold and blustery day in the hundred acre wood! Hello, all! Having perused the latest, I would suggest for a nice, calm and wonderful dog a Chesapeake Bay Retriever. Extremely mellow, and they love to swim. And they look cool, too.
Gw7en, when did you see the Grand Canyon IMAX? I worked at the South Rim in a previous life, and never saw it until the day I left town. My tummy kept lurching!
Marv, dearest...you do realize just how short the two of us are, don't you? Well, okay, we're both over 5 feet, but still...

Must go and see an IMAX movie sometime. I've got a friend who works for UCI cinemas head office in the uk, she was telling me how it was cheaper to send the potential IMAX projectionists to canada for a couple of weeks to do all the training there rather than ship the trainers and equipment to the UK!

Labrador.
It's too bad my forums haven't come back yet. I had a conversation gathering dog recommendations from other researchers, which helped me choose you-know-who.
And I've never seen an IMAX film either, which is really silly since I live only 40 minutes from New York.

All I can remember was that IMAX was stunning, and that I wished my eyes were bigger to take it all in.
On the subject of dogs though, I must confess that after my friends alsation bit me I was put off large dogs for a long, long time. Pity, cos I always wanted a big, hairy German-shepherd as a pet/friend.
So now its my two cats that put fur all over the place

Red, I went down to the Grand Canyon last fall with my SO and best friend. It was my second trip down there, but my first chance to see the IMAX. I agree though, while they were flying through the canyon I felt like I was on a roller coaster. And I felt more vertigo at the movie than I did at the canyon itself.
You used to work at the canyon? So did Erik's brother. For many, many years. Did you know a Marc Peticolas by any chance?

I remember going to an IMAX movie and thinking I was going to fall into the screen once. Very impressive, very fun...
On the subject of dogs, I can be of no assistance. I'm a rabbit guy. I've currently got a tort mini-rex that I've named Fiver, after my favorite character from a certain piece of literature. While I've never had any of the things people say about dogs, I've found caring for rabbits to be very peaceful. Although, I'm convinced that my rabbit is either telekinetic, hyper intelligent, or both. He seems to have a ridiculously good perception of what's going on...

I need to amend the dog comment...I should have said a Chessie Lab mix. Which is what my Mocha is. Got the name because she has a fondness for them. The drink, I mean.
Gw7en, I can't say I do, but then again, I knew so few last names. Where did he work? I was there for 3+ years, and my husband was there for over 5 years. I was one of the few folk who didn't work with the tourists...my job was to make sure the gift shops had enough made in Taiwan c**p to sell to busloads of Japanese tourists.
Does anyone have any nice herbal tea? I'm parched!

Talking about dog's names. The one I mentioned earlier, Rosco, was named after his rust colouring. I guess you had to be there.
I may have mentioned the owner was a Scot, complete with broad accent

Babel, darling. You are such a dear. Was it you who was asking how I didn't break my cup? Bone plastic. Such a lovely invention. What day is it, anyhow? I seem to have lost track.

I've been to lots of IMAX movies, including a 3D one. But my favourite sequence -- and they put this in almost every movie made -- is a ride in either a helicopter or a plane. The helicopters usually tearass down a winding river at a low altitude, with lots of banking and swooping so you almost get seasick.
But the best I've seen yet was Everest. They humped an IMAX camera to the top of the world and did a long slow 360 degree look round.

Whoops! This internet thing...I keep forgetting how many of you are Brits. Now, is that rude? If so, I apologize. I tend to get a bit confused. Friday here...Iron Chef night. Ah, the exciting life of a Goddess. Staying home with naught to do.

Actually Red, I think it was Joe who asked about the teacup, but thank you for letting us know. Oh, I see matina has brought more tea through. Apologies Matina, I just needed a quick cup before hitting the hay myself. 'Sbeena long week.
Enjoy the weekend folks, oh and Loony,

Calling a Kiwi or Aussie a Pom (Brit, Limey) is probably the biggest insult you could make to them.
I'll forgive you though.
