Goodnight, B-17, and thanks for the tea.
Who's calling who a pom? And what names are there for us Americans, besides Yank which is not an insult?

Lonnytunes - Winter Is Here Posted Mar 31, 2001
Septic tank = Yank. Septic for short, it's Cockney rhyming slang

d'E calling someone from the south a Yank could get you shot in some areas. Loony, how about mistaking a kiwi for an ausie? You can always call me a right b*****d. I really don't mind.

Marv, does that mean you're always right, illegitimate, or does it simply mean that you're a jerk? love you!

Marv, it depends. Coming from another American, Yank is an insult ("Damn Yankees"), but coming from someone overseas I don't think it is (as in the song "Over There" - "the Yanks are coming, the Yanks are coming" )

Well I am from Utah so I guess that I do not have much say, but my mother would take it as an insult regardless. She however is from a Texan family.

Gnight, Babel.
Yank wouldn't go down too well with the native Floridians, either.
What ethinic name will I take on when I move to New Mexico? The next visit is set, by the way. I go back to Lincoln on the 12th May weekend cos they're having a workshop and presentation on the care and feeding of historic photographs. Jerry Jordan has reserved a room for me in the Casa Patron (where Billy once slept) -- at this late date, I was afraid I would have to sleep in the car, as there are not a lot of spare rooms going in Lincoln. I'll also be looking for digs. Jeez, this is scary! I never sold a house before. I am leaving a very comfortable comfort zone to go joust with uncertainty...
More tea, anyone?

I'm not sure this is true but I heard once that the Senator from New Mexico was asked for his passport when flying into Washington DC.
Not that that has anything to do with anything.

During World War 2 "Yankee Go Home" applied to all American troops based in places like New Zealand. The Kiwi men (and the Brits) were a bit paranoid about the thought of the Septics chatting up their womanfolk while they (Kiwi men) were fighting overseas.
Aussies and Kiwis hate being mistaken for each other at home (NZ, Aus). In a similar way, Canadians hate being mistaken for Americans anywhere.
When overseas Aussies and Kiwis join together. It's Downunder v the World.

I would take a beer and some pretzles Matina. Thank you dear...
I will stay as a Merkin or Bloody Furriner. My father calls those of Utah decent Ubangies. I try not to think of myself as anything but Marv.

This yarn made me laugh
During the Vietnam war a Native American was asked if American troops should get out of Vietnam.
He replied, "Yes, and they should get out of America too."

Sporky, dearest...have you forgiven me for being a huge brain? Anyway, how are you? I myself have just finished doing my taxes, so there you go.

Hello, Montana, I saw your posts earlier but was never here at the same time as you. Pleased to meet you and welcome to the atelier!
Where do you know Sporky from?
Good haiku, Spork -- and I couldn't get back in for a little while earlier.

I just want to point out that you've all forgotten The Hoosier. Born and bred in Indiana, I'm particularly fond of that one.
And also, there are the Cajuns and the Creoles from Louisiana, although there is some speculation as to who the Creoles are...
On that subject, has anyone seen this "Boudreaux"? He seems to be a cheap Zorro imitatio from LA, speaking out against the BBC.

Lil, thank you ever so much. And believe it or not, I just met Sporky the other evening...but Marv knows him, I know Marv...you know the drill. The fabulous Fraulein Grafenberg intro'd me to the whole shebang. I just wander around aimlessly, spreading redheadness, chocolate, and tea.
