Are there more people waiting to be put onto the list? I’ve been away for a while… maybe I’ve missed the one or other post…

Nope we've done it I think. There's a lot of issues between the actual department lists, and the members list page though.
Does anyone know what's happened to susanne or tube? Otherwise I may be *forced* to make B'elana a HoD instead of susanne.
You know it makes me glad I don't actually have lips like that

Which reminds me of one sequel of 'Ally McBeal' - anybody seen it ? the doctor convinces her to enlargen her lips a bit, and she ends up with lips like that ?

Susanne has last posted two days ago, so she’s obviously still around. You should ask her if she still wants to contribute, or if she’s fed up with teaching or whatever… Just throwing her out wouldn’t be nice!
Tube is still around as well (last post three days ago). Maybe he’s just not in the mood for teaching at the moment.
And yes, I was lurking in order to find out!

Ich habe es gemacht.
Mein Vater hat an mir geschrieen (?), weil ich habe das Huhn gegessen. Er hatte es fuer Abendessen gewuenscht. Jetzt muss ich Abendessan machen. Was sollte ich kochen?

I have done that.
My dad shouted at me because I had eaten the chicken. He had wanted it for dinner. Now I must make dinner. What should I cook?
I thought it was time to put some German in here

Was sollte ich kochen?
What was wrong with that?
And how come angeschrien isn't a separable verb?
Language Thing-German BEGINNERS thread
aka Bel - A87832164 Posted Oct 23, 2004
Was sollte ich kochen - that's conditional, but you don't use the conditional in this context in German, so you'd ask : was soll ich kochen?
Anschreien
Ich schreie an, du schreist an etc - present tense
Er schrie mich an - past tense
Er hat mich angeschrien - present perfect

What IS the conditional and when do I use it? We just don't ever learn English like this and so I never know what it all means.

Erm, conditional ( Konditional ) - implies the possibility, but I don't really know how to explain it
Es ist kalt geworden, ich sollte mir wirklich eine Jacke anziehen
It has gone cold, I really should put a coat
, I don't know better

Kat - From H2G2 Posted Oct 23, 2004
erm...so because of this, this will/should/might/can/does happen?
Language Thing-German BEGINNERS thread
aka Bel - A87832164 Posted Oct 23, 2004
Probably, yes, I think you can compare it to the conditional clauses in English :
Wenn ich könnte wie ich wollte, dann ...
if I could (do) like I would want to, then ...
Any clearer ?

correction of Katkat’s post:
Du bist am richtigen Platz! Katkodl ist hier HoD [...] B’Elana ist auch ein HoD.
and: it's "Guten Tag" instead of "gutentag"!
