Agh. Won't work, and l'm tired, and l don't feel like fiddling with it. l guess Hotmail's messenger isn't compatible with AOL's...

Odra, I just followed the link that RB posted way up there *points back up thread* and followed the instructions. You do have to get a hotmail account - they call it a passport - and then you can get IM. The whole thing took me less than 5 minutes, so it's not too complicated. And it should be compatible with other IM's since I have both that one running and the Yahoo one running at the same time.
Redbeard: I promised Alien that you would add her and the H2G2 Space Centre to the campaign page as supporters. Thanks.
When did Irv promise free coffee? I haven't gotten caught up on the cafe thread (about 1 1/2 days behind now). Was it there?
The Celery Project
Garius Lupus Posted Jul 7, 2000
I was sure Irv would want to support our campaign. Perhaps we can change his allegiance (sp?) somehow.

GL, he was meeting IRL with Marv and Gw7en. Gw7en came back and reported it at http://www.h2g2.com/F45654?thread=59313&post=463592 Interesting news on another front. Two hours ago, Jim Lynn announced the following in the feedback forum --- The features that are appearing in the next release (scheduled for next week) are: 1: All links to forum conversations will have an extra link to take you to the latest block of posts. So you have a choice what you read. 2: The 'Most Recent Forum Posts' list on your home page will have *3* links. One to the start of the thread (as before), one to the last posting you made (so you'll be able to read any specific replies), and one to take you to the latest block of posts. 3: In the left hand frame with the forum view we're adding 'Move to earliest' and 'Move to latest' buttons to the current conversation. 4: Also for the current conversation, we're adding a visual representation of the size of the conversation, which allows you to go to any page of posts with one click. 5: Each of the 'Other conversations' below the current conversation will have a 'Show latest' link added, again giving you the choice of reading the whole conversation or just the newest block. We think that these additions address all of the navigation issues that people are finding with the forums. --- Great news!

Yes, that is good news. But it makes me feel that we might say "goodbye" to ever making new conversations. *SIGH* Oh, well.
Okay, here's the deal: All supporters of the Celery and Webjello get a free supply of dilithium, enough to get you to the Rodentar System and back. Why you'd want to get to the Rodentar System and back is beyond me, but you could.

*sneers*
smae old same old
If anybody wants me I'll be under the floorbaords at Cheese HQ. Maybe. CHeese, man! Must be something there.

Afgncaap5 Posted Jul 7, 2000
Methinks that Styx is going on an assasination mission. Do we want that? Would that be bad for our campaign to have Cheese deaded?
The Celery Project
Garius Lupus Posted Jul 7, 2000
Looks like styx found something - check out rumours and scandals.
And lots of people want to go to the rodentar system - that is where DisneyPlanet is.
The Celery Project
Afgncaap5 Posted Jul 7, 2000
Well, sure, if you can afford it (or if you break in, like we did), but you also have to get past the Rodentar fleet!
*Manages to keep his self composure for just a few moments before he bursts out laughing*
If you can *call* it a fleet!
The Celery Project
Garius Lupus Posted Jul 7, 2000
Well, their fleet is now down to ... um, just a minute while I count .... zero ships.
LOL

Sounds like a pretty flat fleet.

The Celery is the first candidate to come out in favor of the new forum changes. http://www.h2g2.com/F19815?thread=63343 and http://www.h2g2.com/A388271

Excuse me wwe're still testing those chances, surely that press release is a little premature. And since both me and Joanna are on the testing team as well as most of teh other candidates, I don't think you really are the first. Our Manifesto clearly states that we aim to continue to improve the site.
The Celery Project
Redbeard (Thanks to all who supported The Celery!)) Posted Jul 7, 2000
Ah, so sorry, D.D. Didn't realize that Jim Lynn didn't have your permission to release that information yet. Perhaps you'd like to tell him that his post was premature? All The Celery was doing in his press release was supporting the information that Jim posted in public.
Glad to hear that you and Joanna are on the testing team. We will be happy to state for the record that The Celery thanks all those who served on the testing team for their hard work.
One question, though... Was this testing some kind of secret project where you didn't want the voters to know the details? Jim has shared specifics of the project in public over the past few weeks, which has provided the h2g2 constituency with some concrete improvements to anticipate, while your manifesto mostly gives vague statements like 'trying to improve the site', 'amongst those who pointed out the problem', 'currently one of the things under review', and 'try and get it sorted out'. Not a very strong ringing endorsement for the specific changes that Jim announced.
Key: Complain about this post
