Ho, RB. Got caught w/ my servers (or sumpin') down and was battered about fairly well for a while. h2g2.com/reg did't even want to let me back in w/o another loyalty oath. I realize popping in and out can be disconcerting at times but, I thought this place, of all places, would be less miffed about my comings and goings.

Got caught up after I did get in and; "WHEEEDOGGIES!* have you guys been busy. Even went over to S/R to see what was being said and must admit having our candidates let their mouthpieces carry the message appears to be a stroke of genius (always did like the cut of Celery's jib(?)). The other candidates popping in, and popping off, are doing half the work. Don't have a feel for the polical scene, yet, in h2g2 but, C&D (or is it C&W-I sincerely hope not) really seem to be the ones to back.

Good looks, good chemistry (between C&D), good staff, good henchmen, and good message. Tough combo to beat.

"Ahhh, it's good to be back"-Beetlejuice

jr, if you're using GuideML for your home page, you can add our candidate graphics by just cutting and pasting code from our fan club page (your idea!). Can I put you on the Friends of Celery/Webjello page?

Address is http://www.h2g2.com/A385698

*indignatly* Ahem. I'll have you know that I can read tombstones with the best of them. Thank you very much.

Be tickled pink, RB. Thanks for asking again. Wasn't ignoring you, just embarrassed about taking so long to get back.

And on a happier note; guess I'm gonna hafta read the GuideML info and classes after alll. *whimper-whimper-whine(not Looney's)*

I'll put you on there, jr.

Here's the quick GuideML lesson for your particular page.

I'm assuming you wrote it in text mode.

1. Go to edit home page.
2. Click on the GuideML button below the window and then click on 'change type'.

3. Don't mess with the tags that will show up at top and bottom of the edit window.

4. For each paragraph of your current text, add paragraph tags, starting out with and ending with (simply add those at the beginning and end of each paragraph and make sure you have an for each .

5. Add the code for any of those images on the fan club page wherever you want, just by pasting it in there.

6. Always hit preview before you update the page in case there are any problems. If it shows up fine, then hit update. If it doesn't, it will point out in red the problems it sees.

7. If you have problems, ask! smiley - smiley

Thanks for the Cliff's notes ther, RB.

Heard on NPR or some such, RW rumour control has it that Duetches Tel. (Bundespost?) may be making a run at Brit. Tel.'s internet company, Cable & Wireless. Am I the only one this bothers? And, doesn't it bother the Brits that the German's may win by buying them.

Shirley, this is something Celery needs to get his leafs into as I don't know how I feel about them running that net. "You veeell get in step and you veeell like it."

*shudderrrr* Kinda spooky.

Shudder. Deutchecom running h2g2? Would Joanna have to put up "lch Bin Ein Berliner" placards at her donut stall?
Would the Germans make us listen to their pop music? *meaningful glance at Styx...though she was perhaps unfairly jaded about the Germam alternative scene after a Goethe lnstitute sponsored show at the Birchmere in which Die Sterne proved a bit disappointing -- though admittedly the band all had the flu, and anyone's apt to be a bit less than enthused over being projected eight feet out of a slam circle and into a folding chair...l still bear a scar...)*
jr, l'm sure the Germans are very nice, dear...if a bit too well-organized and efficient for my chaotic tastes...

Odra, the efficency and organization I could probably work with but, when I was there in a previous life they were just a tad tooooo rigid for me. Not the citizens, mind you, TPTB. In fact, some of my favorite grandparents (etc.) were German. I mean, with out them where would I be today?

I think regimented is what I'm looking for.

*big ol fluffy cat, Beauregard, jumps in lap demanding attention*

Gotta go for now, cul.

The rumour you have there is sort of correct. There is a rumour that Deutsche Telekom might make a takeover bid for Cable and Wireless. Cable and Wireless is a british based telco with operations all over the world. It is not part of British Telecom (BT). The reasoning on the rumour is that the DT/Sprint link up may not go ahead due to politcal resistance. C&W would provide a link into the US markets for DT.

Don't dump on the Germans, they have had to deal with some appalling stereotyping. If you met some of the Germans here you'd soon have your eyes opened!

The German language is highly structured and boy do you have to think ahead when inserting a clause pops your verb to the end. A lot of the young Germans I've talked to have developed a different way of using their own language, a series of short run-on sentences, keep the structure simple, don't get complicated, easier this way.

If I worry about a foreign company taking over a domestic company, it would be on account of the nature of the company itself, maybe the economic climate of the country in question...

For example, what business has a French water utility, buying a Candian whiskey company? Why would Sony ever in a zillion years have wanted a Hollywood Studio?

Quite frankly, I have stood in lines at British post offices, and have a low opinion of charging for local access, thus preventing millions of Brits from enjoying full internet acess. If German ownership improved this, it would be a good thing.

In fact, I would go so far as to say that h2g2 ought to be a model for the future: bring an end to nationalism!!

Hear, hear. Judge each person for him or herself, and each company by their record.

And now, back to the campaign ....

Oh, yes. The 499 monkeys. I think there are only 498 now, since I sent one through the portal. But there are the ... um ... I forget how many giant ones in the Moxon Wood. And there are the Gnus and the Penguin too, but we haven't seen them for a while.

http://messenger.msn.com/
for the one Lil and I have been using.
You'll probably have to sign up for a free hotmail account if you don't already have one, but no big deal.. and I was able to get it downloaded and set up in just a few minutes.

Nice job at Scandals and Rumours.

Thanks RB. I just downloaded and set it up. I found Lil, but couldn't find you using your regular email. It said that person doesn't have a passport. It must want your hotmail email.
