Okay, I think I have the padlock thing solved. Just a sec, I think I saw something...
*GL jumps into sea's pocket. Sounds of cupboards opening and closing, pots and pans rattling, car door opening and closing, shower curtain opening (followed by a female scream and a muttered, astonished apology, followed some minutes later by a "do you mind!" and the shower curtain closing and another muttered, appreciative apology), drawers opening and closing and finally an "Aha!". GL appears out of sea's pocket with a small hand drill and a tiny padlock.*
The padlock was easy - just took it off of a diary...
...which I saved for later. *pats pocket and wiggles eyebrows*
But it took me a while to find the key.
*GL drills a small hole in the lego block and checks that the padlock fits.*
Perfect! Okay, toss me the, er, rope.

*The eel puts its head in the boat*
Just give it whatever you need tied. He'll bite down on it, effectively eliminating the need for any knot tying. And if there's some form of trickery, then there's an air-breathing eel in your boat to enact my revenge.

I don't understand, are you going to drill a hole through the eels head too so you can padlock them together? I think I would just put the padlock around the eel's head so it can't open it's mouth once it's bitten down.

Er, maybe we don't need the padlock, since Water Guy controls the eel. The lego is still duct-taped to the grenade, so Water Guy can't just take it, unless he wants to blow up the lego, the eel and himself. I'll still be holding the grenade with the pin removed until we reach the shore. Then, when everyone is safely away, I'll put the pin back in the grenade and let the eel take it away.
*Carefully holds out his hand so that the eel can grab the lego while GL maintains his own hold on the grenade and lego. The eel would be unable to take the lego without the grenade going off.*
Okay, Water Guy, we're all set. You can let down your water walls now and let us get over to the far shore.
*GL pockets the tiny padlock.*

<-- helps out in his own way by mouthing the grenade and pulling in a third direction
Zeppo, bad dog! No bomb! Drop it! That's the second one today! But I have to admit it does look like one of those tennis-balls-on-a-rope toys that we always play with.

*The eel bites down on the lego*
Now, I must warn you. This eel's my own special breed. I wouldn't cross him.
