I think ikt's some kind of religious command, order or ruling, or something- I've heard of a "papal bulL" which is one coming from the Pope.

According to Volume I of the Complete Oxford English dictionary (so complete that volume I is 1300 pages long and only covers "A" and "B"), "a papal or episcopal edict or mandate".
So basically, what i just said above.
This libarary's very useful you know- the two shelves housing the Complete Oxford are in the same room as the computer cluster

Hmmmm... there's a Swedish word - 'bannbulla' which is what Martin Luther received, banning him (excommunicated?) from the Catholic church - I wonder if it's something like that?

We have the word 'bulla' which is (all kind of) orders and resolutions coming from Pope.

IIEM a if you would be so kind
I am mostly avoiding wallpaper stripping today, unless my conscience gets the better of me. Actually it might be quite an interesting exercise as I have got to monitor my blood pressure for 24 hours. At the moment I'm relaxing and letting it go down, well that is my excuse for sitting in front of the tv, watching some daytime cr*p, whilst trying out the wireless connection H has installed.

Well, we're done our wallpaper stripping. Hooray! Now we just have painting to do. Lots and lots of trim and windows.

I much prefer painting to stripping wallpaper. You get such a sense of accomplishment, plus the intense dramatic highs and lows of trying to decide whether the paint will really dry in the color you picked. Plus the new 3M masking tapes that work like post-its make taping windows and trim really easy.

I agree, I love painting, I also love the way that a cheerful coat of paint can completely change a room, just for the cost of a tin of paint! In my old house, the one that Vip (of hootoo fame) now lives in, I was so proud of decorating my room in bright turquoise. Everyone else thought that it was hideous. The landlord didn't even comment.

Well, considering it's you...

Not that you have to read about castles in Yorkshire anyway.

Well, I tried to read it but obviously my English has gone to already (it's almost 1 am here) and I decided to leave it for tomorrow.
