A Conversation for The Café
The Aroma Café: Past Christmas
Phil Posted Jan 27, 2004
There looks to be about 1/2 to 1 inch of snow on the ground when I look out of my window here. Looks all rather pretty

IIEM - a decaff please, since I'm on my way to bed
Can't keep up with the rest of you when it comes to celeb-bagging - but I can claim Patrick Moore, the astronomer, who came to my school and spent time with our class. A major coup for the English teacher.
Haven't been here for a while but have two days off at the end of the week so hope to 'hang' with you then.
Caerwynn - I also have membership at Wisley so am happy to sign someone else in if anyone else fancies meeting up to over plants and drink coffee.

There's snow outside. Not a lot though, it'll be gone by tomorrow, and it will almost certainly be freezing. I hate winter with a passion.
IIEM, two Red Bulls please.

*a mumbled conversation can be heard from outside the café*
Weathergods, could you please let it snow somewhere else but here? You see, we already - what? No, no - I *like* snow - but, as I was - yes, it *does* look pretty, but look! Calf-deep or knee-deep doesn't really make much difference - we've got enough snow now for skiing and toboganning and stuff! Whereas there are others just longing for the stuff and not getting any! Where? Well, I know one little girl who'd be very happy, in the south of England - name's Caerwynn. Eh? Oh - C-a-e-r-w-y-n-n. I'd be much obliged if you could forward this snowfall to her!
*a looking figure enters the café*
*stomps snow off boots*
*brushes snow off trouser legs, hood, shoulders and backpack*
Hi all! IIEM... thanks!
*wriggles out of her coat, slumps down on the Deep Purple sofa and sips her vanilla latte with obvious pleasure*

please.
Well I saw snow on my way in this morning. The train goes in a slight northerly loop into the hills and a place called Polmont looked quite pretty with its half inch.
Was watching Rough Science, a popular science show, last night and was shocked to discover that I have forgotten all my trigonometry and so had to rush off and look it up.

Coniraya Posted Jan 28, 2004
Thanks T, I hope it works
I saw that programme Munchers, it never ceases to amaze me how useful physics can actually be. Almost makes me wish I had paid attention in class. Occasionally some of the tasks surprise on me by how much I do know! Not often though
IIEM a decaff please, can't have me rushing off to the little girls' room half way through Pilates!

Phil Posted Jan 28, 2004
The rough science show was a good one wasn't it. I did enjoy it
The snow managed to delay my journey to work by about half an hour. The train (packed because the previous one was canceled) had to wait while some men went to fix a set of frozen points at one of the junctions it passes through. An inch of snow and this is what happens, grumble grumble. Wouldn't have minded if there had been a decent snowfall.
IIEM, a hot chocolate please.

Garius Lupus Posted Jan 28, 2004
You all can have as much of our snow as you want. Last night I was woken up as the snowplow when by. I thought it was just the little one that plows the sidewalks, since it had a high-pitched whine and not the low rumble of the big plows. But, unfortunately, it was the big plow and I had to shovel out the foot of the driveway before I could leave this morning. The temperature yesterday was fairly mild (-2C) so the snow was mushy, but then it got cold overnight, so the stuff that the plow left on the driveway had frozen solid. What a pain!

IIEM, a Lil Special, please. The snow we had the other night is still clinging to the north faces of the mountains, and Sierra Blanca is properly white.
I need to do studies of feet for figure drawing homework. *gets out drawing pad and charcoal and starts looking at other people's feet*

IIEM, a cup of please. The snow is only about an inch deep here and it looks as if that'll be it for the current blast from the Arctic. They don't make snow like they used to.
The Aroma Café: Past Christmas
Freedom Posted Jan 28, 2004
IIEM, a refill please?
*sips latte*
I like snow, I really do - as long as it already there on the ground. It's the actual snowing I don't like, or rather being out in it, I suppose.

thanks.
Am I that pedictable? Jeez.
Still haven't gotten the review done, but at least I found some online reviews, so I can fake it.
Snow? My daughter wants to see snow this weekend. I love looking at it, but not a fan of shoveling it. I also don't like driving in it. I can drive in it fine, but it's the other people on the road that bother me!

I just had an interesting drive home from work - in hailstones, sleet then snow, accompanied by lightning! Hmmmm - interesting.
IIEM - a coffee with cream on top please

[Mog] Yep, we're getting some snow here ... and if it'd started maybe three or six hours earlier, we'd've been out of school.
[Dylan hangs down by his knees from the rafters and shows Mog a cue card, then pops back up again]
[Mog] Oh, right! Our ISP went gaga and thought that we hadn't paid, so our internet got cancelled. I'm posting this from school, so perhaps the lack of timely snow perhaps isn't /entirely/ without benefit ...
