Bluebottle Posted Nov 25, 1999
Essentially, everyone seems to have read "Foundation", but has anyone read the Second Foundation trilogy by Greg Bear - and what is it like?

I like Rankin too especially the ones with Pooley and Omally. I'm afraid I did an English degree 10 years ago and only read `light` sci-fi/fantasy and childrens books now! - Any Harry Potter fans BTW?

Hey Irving! Long time no see
Tell me, have you ever heard a song about a cowboy named Irving? (it's a novelty song, BTW)

Actually, if you recall Speaker For The Dead. It had a lot of relegion in it. I've been rereading it (though I started somewhere in the middle) really late at night so that I can stay up an listen to all the new cd's I bought (NIN's The Fragile is awesome).

Just stopped in to compliment you on your good tatse!
I thought I was the only being in the multiverse that actually read Turtledove.
I've always likrd 'Historical fiction', but I discovered his book on WWII (I can't think of the name at the moment)
about a year ago, gave it a try and now he's part of my favorite author list.
I also like Orson Scott Card(some one called him a 'mormon wako'), I lked the Ender series better than the Alvin Maker.
J.R.R.Tolkien is a master.
Oh, and tell Helena that when she finds Robert Jordan, I want in on the action. I am tired of waiting for an end to this
'Wheel of Time' business. I haven't even read book eight! I love a good series,but.............

Got the lyrics, if you're interested. I grew up with Dr. Demento. Great stuff!!
Hey, Irving there's a new Ender's book out. It's called Ender's Shadow, I think.
It's paralleling Ender's Game, about one of his classmates, i believe.
I just started it. Will let you know if I think it's worth the bother.
Helena, I read Rankin, I like him.

I'm interested
Surely you've heard The Cockroach That Ate Cincenatti. How about the Massochism Tango (it's by the same guy who wrote Poisoning Pidgeons in the Parc)
Great, now I have to go out and BUY a new book. I haven't had to buy a new book since Children of the Mind.

My brother read that one. He says it's okay... it's not on par with the first one, but it's about on the level with the ones that come afterwards.

Since I live in Ohio, 'Cockroach ' is one of my favorites!
My older brother and I used to sing 'Tango' and 'Kinko the Kid Loving Clown'
from the backseat, while on Sunday drives.
Needless to say, our mother was not impressed!
Another of my fav's is 'Exstitential Blues'. I've seen it quoted in here somewhere.
Gods! Now it's in my head...I'll be singing it for days!
~I ache for the touch of your lips, dear
But much more for the touch of your whips, dear
You can raise welts
Like noobody else
As we dance to the masochism tango....~
(man, I miss my brother)
Ok, this is the Book thread, not the music one.
I'll get you the lyrics. might take me a day or two.

If you like strange humor, try Eric Idle's "The Road to Mars".
kats-eyes liked it and so did I.

Eric Idle was in Pyton, right? His name always makes him sound like a Rock Star to my ears.
