I just missed Freedom -- haven't seen Freedom in aaaaaages.

Now it was about 2 LEDs ago I read a post where someone complained that they didn't have their own special even though they'd been coming for a year.

*nabs an AL Special from the IIEM* The only reason I got one named for me was that I worked here all summer, I think it was 2000. And then Irv had to abstain from HooToo for a long while, and then I've been away from the cafe since before the Foop but I still have my Special, thank heavens...

Which is all by way of saying that even the proprietor might find it hard to keep up with the backlog. He'd have to be taking notes to remember a request dropped casually at the 700th post or whatever. And Irv doesn't update the page all that often. Of the charter list of regulars, how many still come here? Or come to h2g2 at all?

The backlog is not obligatory, you know.

Yeah, but it helps preserve the Laws of Continuity, Gravity and Thermodynamics. And my sanity . It also much less confusing for everyone else.

I see. Well the café doesn't have much backlog usually, I can cover 1-2 pages, but I usually don't read more than that. Of course i read much slower than you, I think.

To clear up questions about the regulars listings, I'd like to say that, first of all, I refuse to delete any of the old regulars/staff. I am firm in my optimism that someday, in some form, they may return and want their place back. In this way I am much like the the ship mentioned in both the radio and book version of the Guide (though in different contexts) that continues to wait until another civilization arises and invents lemon soaked paper napkins.

Unfortunately, my mind is not orderly or efficient enough to add new regulars on a (ahem) regular basis. I just updated with three new names, two of whom emailed me directly. I remembered to add x only because I had misspelled his (her?) full name earler in this forum, and wanted to get it right on the main page.

There are many more of you who deserve to be on that list, but I'm afraid I'll never remember unless you pester me at my personal email addy: [email protected] . Ioreth, Lizzy, Bumblebee, and others have done this, and were (fairly) promptly added to the list.

I believe it was Yossarian Prefect who brought this up a few LEDs back. Yoss, your name will be with the next update, whenever that is. I /did/ remember to add you to my official list of Yossarians on my user space, if it makes you feel better
