I believe the mystery player may be a woman. Fulham, Arsenal and Doncaster are all top ladies' teams...

In which case, I'm going to bite the bullet and actually guess someone:
Marianne Spacey.

Mu Beta Posted Feb 5, 2004
I concede that, even with Google's assistance, that answer would not have occurred to me.

Well, I have no idea which of those teams she played for, but she's the first English female player who popped into my head

sprout Posted Feb 5, 2004
I looked at your suggestion, Master B, realised I don't know any female football players and left it at that...

creachy Posted Feb 6, 2004
right, because i have sod all time this week i am going to have to ask for a pools panel please can we have scorers on them or not?
WEEK SIX
Mu Beta Posted Feb 6, 2004
The Pools Panel selects scores only. The scorers are selected by a weighted-random-number-out-of-five process.
See, Desk, I do pay attention.

Marianne Spacey played for Wimbledon...
Southampton 0-2 Fulham (Boa Morte)
Bolton 2-2 Liverpool (Owen)
Everton 1-4 Man Utd (Van Nistelrooy)
Wolves 1-4 Arsenal (Pires)
Scunthorpe 2-1 Doncaster (Beagrie)
I don't know who the player is either, but staying in the women player theme, I'm going to guess at Rachel Unitt, who has at least played for three (Wolves, Everton, Fulham) of the clubs mentioned as far as I can work out.

McKay The Disorganised Posted Feb 7, 2004
Southampton 2 - 3 Fulham - Malbranque
Bolton 1 - 3 Liverpool - Owen (This is guaranteed, I just dropped him from my fantasy team.)
Everton 0 - 1 Man Utd - Scholes
Wolves 0 - 3 Arsenal - Pires
Scunthorpe 1 - 1 Doncaster Blundell
Mystery Player -
Alan Ball has played for Everton, Arsenal and Saints and I believe he briefly player/managed Blackpool before returning to Southampton - so I'm going for him.
WEEK SIX
egon Posted Feb 7, 2004
Bally actually started his career with blackpool and ended it with bristol rovers.
WEEK SIX
McKay The Disorganised Posted Feb 7, 2004
I am unablr=e to explain why I put Blackpool in my mystery player guess - I was thinking Blackpool was missing from the teams so it couldn't be him, but whilst I thought the lady player had possibilities I couldn't solve it - so I'd go with Bally and where I said Blackpool in my post I MEANT Doncaster.
Key: Complain about this post
