actually lentilla, i think hootoo is more akin to and indeed is intended to be a 'virtual' speaker's corner just like the original one at hyde park in the heart of london town rather than anyone's bleeding living room especially as it is paid for from the taxes of the people who also elect the government servants who in turn hire civil servants who are paid from the fees and taxes collected. each participant has an undivided interest in the site if you prefer a corporate analogy. think on it.

zoomer why does it seem reasonable to assume that i had 'yikes' analiese? What would give you that inclination? If you want to know my thoughts or actions just ask . I am not exactly shy.

Starbirth - i have read many well formed posts from you with a great many valid well thought opinions and arguments.
Both post were yikes'd because of i felt it was getting too personal.

Another deliberate misinformation post analiese. My views on the Iraq moderation rules/policy have been stated several times prior to this post. reminds me of the old 'kbg' releases during the cold w**

"what an orator, a real sheep in wolf's clothing, eh?
you'd like to put a small cut on your little finger and yell loudly that you've been martyred, it appears!
perhaps it is enjoyable for you to speak to yourself, of yourself and by yourself?"
Well, sir or madam, I happen to agree with Starbirth. Your rhetoric stinks!
Your attitude indicates that you've never had to work with other people in a service industry. Try working in a McDonald's and have to explain to fifteen customers after 10:30 am that they can't have their Egg McMuffin, that McDonald's has to stop serving breakfast after 10:30, and there's nothing that you can do about it. (Except tell them to dig in the dumpster out back for the old, cold breakfast food that wasn't sold.)
This is how the world works. I personally have been moderated twice since this began, and my only regret is that the moderators had to spend time to remove my post. I've got the text, in e-mail format (something you all should be thankful for - what other bulletin board service e-mails you your removed posts?) and maybe I'll post it on another board, if I think it's worth it.

To ? - whoever you are...
You forget - or perhaps you don't know - that I do not pay for the services of the BBC. Anybody can use h2g2, as long as they have internet access. I am an Amurrican, and the only time I get to see the BBC broadcast is at 12:30 am on my public television station.
It may not be the BBC's living room, but it's certainly a branch office (virtual) of the BBC.
And I expect that if you were drunk and disorderly in Hyde Park, they'd take you away for public intoxication. Or if you were obnoxious and loud enough, they'd remove you because you were being a disturbance.

Mort I was refering to analiese post of #6184.I am afraid she got me first.
please go back about 5 days and you will see how my views on the 'iraq moderation' have been deliberatly mistated by analiese.
I do respect you telling me about the 'yikes' Mort and hold no ill will.

read the backlog to the start of the iraq rules od moderation a few days ago. It is analiese who accuses me of being an elitist and supporting censorship. how I wih to stop her from voicing opinions I do not agree with. Even after i stated sevral times I oppose censorship. Then when she does not like a opinion of mine she has me silenced. What is your point?

We all know in what sequence it went, Starbirth. You would do well to review it yourself. It was my response to your pathetic attempt at humor that was hidden first. I responded to that by yiking you to see if they were going to be equitable in enforcing these rules and apparently they are, at least where personal attacks are concerned.
What this should show all of us is that the community is self-regulating, since apparently someone needs to hit the yikes button for something to happen.
So if you want to keep it personal, fine. I'll let somebody else hit the yikes button since I'm satisfied now that I know how things work. Your stuff isn't worth my time anyways.

All the excuses and backpaddling will not change the fact that you 'colaberated' in censoring me. For if it was with out merrit you would have left it their to point out.
who was it that sang that song? "true colors"

egon Posted Mar 22, 2003
I'm not going to get involved in the argument, but True Colors was by cyndi Lauper, later covered by Phil collins.

LOL!
This thread is an ongoing source of great entertainment!!!!
I swear, you guys would argue with a stopsign!
The thread is dead...argue your personal matters through e-mail. Get it off h2g2.
Or don't. I must say, it makes for fun reading!

Just my opinion...
I think that it would be wise to let this (already closed) thread drop.
Things are very heated here and perhaps walking away, now all points have been made, would save some community spirit.
Arguments against the beeb are being made on the policy guidelines page so you could continue to contribute there if you wish.
And besides there is so much else to do on h2g2 .
