Yeah, but didn't he look sincere at the end of it? Blinking into camera like Bambi. He'll laughing up his sleave as soon as the cameras stop, shouting into his phone to his stock-broker; "Gold! Oil! Gold! Oil!"
Someone impeach this criminal.

I've just been a lurker on this fascinating thread. It's so lively I can't keep up with it just dipping in when I have time. Now the BBC looks like moderating you though, I thought I might point out that last time they came over all strict and bossy (didn't want us to talk about the foot and mouth crisis) some of us used a different forum that indulged us in our need to say what we wanted when we wanted how we wanted. It's called Ezboard and can be found here: http://www.ezboard.com/

>>countries should sue the person giving that address for libelling them. >>
I am not sure of the position in Canada but in the UK, libel is defamation via the written word. Defamation via the spoken word is slander.
Label is often incorrectly used in place of slander because it is considered more serious because it is more easily proved and is more permanent. Whereas slander is often transient and is more difficult to prove, consequently the ill informed will use libel when they really mean slander.

The individual in question issued his statements both as a spoken televised address, as an official Arabic translation (written and spoke), and as an official written transcript. Libel, slander, and defamation. And, in Canada, promoting hatred against an identifiable group. If he were standing on Canadian soil, he could be subject to a nasty deportation. Maybe we could send him to Syria, just like his people deport Canadian citizens to Syria (for the colour of their skin). Oh no, I'm going to be moderated.

Oh, Stuart. The "ill-informed" are the ones who start mumbling about legal definitions without really examining the event which led to the allegation in question.

This thread will probably disappear when the shooting starts, or tomorrow morning (UK time) when the 'boss' comes in and we are found guilty of not complying with the gag order.
So while it's still running I'd like to say thank you to everyone who has spoken out. It has generally been a frank and honest discussion and we have all learned much about each other and the world we live in. That is after all what intelligent discussion is supposed to accomplish.
See you all on the other side.
I hope.

Actually, I find it really weird that the thread is still going after all the statements about it being closed. Of course, there are lots of other threads out there that are still carrying on the discussion.
see you jwf.

"Perhaps you might care to stick your heads out of your shells every once in a while and notice that the majority ain't with you!"
It seems that FS got his definition of majority from the same 'never never land' source that said that reperations to the marshal plan were never made.

RAF Wing... Lookee I'm Invisible!! Posted Mar 18, 2003
Here is a story about a zen master and a samarai.
It seems that one time this samarai came to the zen master and asked, "Master, does paradise and hell exist?"
"Oh, who asks such a stupid question?" said the master.
The samarai, visibly annoyed, "It is I, an honorable samarai asking this stupid question, Master."
"Ah, so it is," replied the zen master. "And what poverty stricken lord would hire such an honorable person such as you to protect him and his family who cannot even keep up his appearance?"
At this, the samarai, now genuinely incensed, began to draw his sword.
"Will you cut off my head with that rusty piece of junk?" asked the master.
"I will indeed!" declared the samarai.
"Ah ha!" exclaimed the master. "In that act the gates of hell are opened!"
The samarai suddenly seemed to hear the master's words for the first time and slid his sword back into its scabbard.
"Forgive me, master," he pleaded solemnly and bowed respectfully.
"Ah ha!" exclaimed the master. "In that act the gates of paradise are opened."

Make haste then, redneck. You're master is calling you to cheer on the legions. May God have mercy on your soul.
