Do you need any witnesses to help prove your case?

Gooday High Priest,
Thanks for your support; it was nice of you to drop by.
Wasn't able to do my usual morning check today, but those of you who have been following my posts will probably be fascinated to learn that it is fine and sunny and heading for 24 degrees today.
Obviously someone somewhere has received a wake-up call because a couple of responses were waiting on the 'most neglected' chat forum and without making any comment, someone needs a humour transplant and what really worries me is that I can't work out whether or not that someone is me. For all of that, no answers yet to the core issues.
Walter.

Hello gang,
I should have checked before doing the previous post. Hobart 12 October 10.05 and Sergei is ...... (pause, drum roll, inhalations of breath all around as Walter brings tension to bursting-point crescendo) ---
NUMBER FIVE ON THE MOST NEGLECTED LIST!!!!!!!!

Jeremy (trying to find his way back to dinner) Posted Oct 12, 2000
Hi,
I've listened to some of P's work recently, but for me he's always going to be the composer of "Peter and the Wolf". I do realize that that's simplifying hos overall work, but I can't help it's the only composition I really like.
Sorry, P fans, but as everyting in art end esp. in music, that's just a matter of taste, no patronizing whatsoever intended.
I strongly support all efforts to get P off the most neglected list. Like him or don't, he hasn't deserved neglection.

Oh come one! Romeo and Juliet is far better!
Prokofiev
Jeremy (trying to find his way back to dinner) Posted Oct 12, 2000
As I said, a matter of taste.
I totally agree with you that Romeo and Julia is far better in *Your* opinion. I don't agree that it *is* better.
JBTW: If someone told me that Peter and the Wolf was better that Romeo and Julia, I wouldn't agree, either, due to the very same reason.
That is like a religious creed to me: From a certain level of skill there's no better vs. worse any more. It depends only on what you like.
I think we can agree that Prokofiev is far beyond the entry level to that rule

De gustibus ne disputandum, as they say in Germany.

Jeremy - I accept your point about Peter/Romeo not being 'better' than each other, but I'm curious: what is it about Peter that makes you prefer it to Romeo? Or anything else by Prokofiev?
PS: Hi Joanna, Walter, Tinkerbell!

Yedni Deknil,
I can't even explain that. It's like prefering a meal cooked by your mother to another one cooked by a chef d'cuisine. It's just that PatW was my first contact with Prokofiev. I was only ten years old, and it was one of those pieces of music that helped me not losing a contact to classical music during my puberty.
It's a kind of loyalty.

Walter of Colne Posted Oct 12, 2000
Greetings everyone, and a special hello to those who have dropped in recently,
Hobart 13 October (it's a Friday the thirteenth for those like me who are superstitious) 07.20, mild 15 degrees and heading for 20, but a bit overcast, maybe a shower later in the day. The first of my lilacs has come into bloom this morning.
Sergei Prokoviev, number five on the most neglected list. No-one said this was going to be easy folks, but we are here for the long haul, right?
Walter.
