yeah ok with the others there is a certain amount of rape and incest. if you read the story of david in the old testament you will find even more rape. but the point is God conquers even over all this. the world isnt perfect and it never has been. but as a christian i believe that Jesus died to take away all the sins of the world.

while ever you have the influence of the devil in the world there will be sin. but through christ we can make it into the perfect kingdom when we have finished our work on earth. we are only visitors to this world after all.

The problem is that pychiratrists will tell you that even reading a small book can cause slight changes in character of children even in the class room assignment, meaning they are impressoned by what they read.

Another thing is if your going to let your 5 year old daugther reaed about rape, incest and sex in the bible are you going to allow them to watch porn movies or look at porn magazines or romantic novels etc. No you are not.

There is no need for all the rape and sex in the bible it has no real porpose.

i wouldnt watch porn either. the bible may have unpleasant things in but so has this world. the difference in th ebible is God is present and triumps.

But there is no moral given. It just goes of on a tangent about some one commiting incest or rape and thats it, it gives no moral.

An the point being is that it does not teach you anything, and just puts bad thoughts into your head.

If you eat junky food your body becomes junky, if you read junky stuff, your mind becomes junky.

i would encourage my children to read th whole bible for themselves and to make there own decisions

A moral is usually given at some stage. Jacob's dying blessing for the tribe of Reuben (later in Genesis) is lessened because of his behaviour. Amnon dies because of his action, as do the sons of Hamor. Judah is shamed, while David is brought to repentance.

The story of Lot is the origin of Israel's neighbouring tribes, not just an episode told for the sake of it.

I read these stories in my teens. There is a huge gulf between them and real pornography, which is degrading for everyone, not just for five year olds. For instance, Abraham's story isn't at all disturbing. I think you would agree - after all, you wouldn't go near pornography in any real sense, but you quote this.

How sad is this? I am sorry, but a sadder piece of writing I have never seen - lacking in substance and credibility. I will not waist any more time in responding.

God loves me and im not cut off from him because i have salvation through Jesus and therefore have a relationship with God.

those who should be sad are those who are at war with God.
but remember you can become happy, there is good news out there for everyone and salvation can be obtained if only your willing to hear how.

Thanks for the invitation. As a matter of fact I am a Christian and Christ is very much a part of my daily life. I am happy to join the discussion. I am not, however, prepared to enter into discussion on the content of the jibberish written in the original entry.
