...is being made in the kitchen, but we work on it all day with no time for anything else, except meals if someone else cooks them
Still, we're getting visible results, so I've started an album with pictures. (Lots, though I tried to limit myself - I had to use some of Yarreau's, too.)

We've almost got the framework for the first counter done - but the construction gods demanded the first blood sacrifice today. J cut his left thumb with a chisel, fairly deeply, and is now sporting a thick bandage with two Q-tips for a splint, to keep him from bending it and opening the cut again.
Fortunately, it hasn't slowed us down much - we're working together efficiently now, despite only having one set of good tools that must be shared.
Both my sisters can help during the weekend, so it'll be even quicker then

After seeing the photos: You know, my kitchen needs some renovation as well... It can't be much worse. Can you build stoves as well?

Great to see the pics - keep 'em coming! It's become this architectural equivalent of '24' or something so we've got to know how it ends!
But for bod's sake, wear some shoes in there while you're all working

impressing work, Mala! (and co-workers) May I hire you next time the Lair needs to be improved?
Good that you have a SIC - supreme inspector cat. Without them nothing would be properly done
...and who gave you permission to nick my sofa? But I must admit you've done wonders with it - no cat claw marks at all left

Ismarah - I keep telling J to wear shoes, but he won't listen. Doesn't like goggles or gloves or dust masks either. Men can be so stubborn!
And you're absolutely right, DQ! The inspector cat has been kept very busy, but it appears to approve. Makes a nice change from my wardrobe being inspected every day...
(For the sofa, simply tear down a ceiling - it'll be so thickly covered in dust that you can't see anything at all!)
Suggestions for interesting drawer pulls and door handles welcome. The best we've come up with so far is buying some old forks and spoons and bending them into shape...

Looking good! I like the mud and straw ceiling. Weren't you even slightly tempted to put a time capsule up there behind the ceiling? I think I would have been.

I keep wanting to leave things for future generations, but nobody agrees with me...
I did write "If you can read this message, you're renovating" on the subfloor

And she drew a fat hairy spider with vampire fangs on the wall behind the cabinet... now I'll always know it's there...

That was to warn of the fat hairy spider with vampire fangs that lives in the hole in the wall there...

I was about to say it was probably an architects' thing we wouldn't understand - it used to be chimeras and gargoyles to ward off evil, now it's fat hairy spiders.

Evil? Me?
New photos on page 2... http://public.fotki.com/Malabarista/kitchen-renovation/page2.html
And we'll be ready to go buy the wood for the wall panels, the shelves, and the drawers tomorrow
