She's been very busy! She had to catch the that was inhabiting the new sink. It was obviously very dangerous - took her quite a while to get it, with much jumping about - and we'd never have known it was there, because it was invisible...

that lattice work of timber looks complicated
wouldn't it have been easier to build solid carcasses?

That's quite impressive, Mala.
And I love the sounds of the little drawings/notes you're leaving behind things. When I was little, my dad remodeled our basement in the house I grew up in, and we found weird things behind the walls- a metal car and truck that my sister and I got to play with, and a shower curtain liner where insulation should have been.

stuff hidden when decorating was where I got into doing celtic knotwork - someone had left various designs on the walls at a mates house that we uncovered during a decorating party. And I was hooked into finding out what they were and how to do them

Easier maybe, but neither as sturdy nor as cheap This way, we'll have a solid-wood, custom-built kitchen for about 1000€!
We bought a *lot* of wood today. Back to work after some food.
And I'm thinking about what to leave behind the wall panels now... When we put down new flooring in the farm where I lived as a child, there were a lot of old newspapers under the old one - they were interesting enough!

The Lair Cats send the important message that all SIC need to be properly fed in order to maintain high quality and standard of ongoing work.
Steaks, tuna and kitty bits in jelly - or other treats of preference - are mandatory.
The Lair Cats also say they are taking supporting naps in order to maintain good health of SIC.

Actually, Lili's brother Morris is currently taking a supporting nap as well, in my lap as usual (see my tagline...).
Unlike her, he is afraid of... no, I mean, he is NOT afraid of power tools - the farther away from them, the least afraid he is... Mala is mean enough to call them "cat accelerators", because as soon as they get switched on, Morris always happens to remember some very urgent business upstairs...

Our cat Herman feels that way about the vacuum cleaner. He used to take off any time I used the hair dryer, or when we would grind coffee, but I guess he's figured out that neither of those things will eat him. That, or as we have no upstairs in which to conduct important kitty business, he's learned it's not worth the effort finding someplace else to be.
But the vacuum...

Three of our cats hide from the vacuum. The fourth, Lili, attacks it... She even did that in her previous incarnation as Ronya, the calico cat I had before that

Herman attacks it when it's parked and the cord is still wound around. But once the cord starts unwinding, it's all hissing, growling, and projectile shedding.
Lili sounds like a little firecracker.

Sometimes I wonder if cats' fear of the vacuum cleaner is something they learn as kittens. Three of the four Lair Cats, all grown up as spoiled indoor kitties, are afraid of or even scared of the vacuum cleaner.
however, who spent the first year or so of his life as a stray cat doesn't care at all about the vacuum cleaner. He might move if it comes too close.

My cat spent her first 6 months or so on a farm, she was mostly outside somewhere or in the stables and she is afraid of: the vacuum cleaner, the heater in the bathroom, people who carry evil things like boxes, the watering can etc, the neighbours when they dare to be in their gardens... can't think of more at the moment but there's plenty
Anyhow, back to the topic: how are things going in the kitchen?

Slowly... We built two drawers, but then managed to break both the cutter on the milling machine and the small drill bit
We've been glueing the frameworks together instead.

I am happy to report that the sherry bottle fits in its drawer - provided the cork is in properly, because there's about 1mm of room above it!
