He's a bloody hack. The guy didn't have talent, the only reason why he popularized rock was because the people at the record companies looked at him and said, "hey, there's a fairly attractive white dude who can act like he knows what he's doing, he's perfect."

Actually and originally, his backstory was supposed to be that he was a mutated wolverine. It was dropped when they realized how stupid it sounded.
