Looks like today..

..is going to be one of those 'trying to survive' days. And I'm wondering if I should be feeling quite this paranoid.

Answers on a postcard.

Rather a lot of mp3s (all newly pruned and newly organised), rather a few DVDs (33 as .avi rips, to be precise), and 4 DVDs neatly decoded as VOB files and awaiting degradation to avi status (a fate not belying at least two of the four, Dogma and The Dish, which are destined to remain high quality copies, being wonderful films).

Suffice to say, I'm enjoying rather a lot having an extra 120gb of hard drive to play with. smiley - laugh

Not to give the impression that my contentment is entirely caused by technology, although; this would surely be a lie. smiley - loveblush

Power cut

We just had a power cut. smiley - erm.. suffice to say, laptops don't require mains power and neither do phone lines, so 20 minutes without mains power did me no harm (apart from the fact that my mp3 collection is now on a 120gb firewire hdd smiley - erm).. smiley - laugh.. I think I must have been the onle person in the area who spent the duration of said powercut on the internet. smiley - silly

Laptop

My laptop is finally back, and finally working! smiley - biggrin.. I've reinstalled XP pro, and everything's working just fine. It's even, horror of horrors, happily connected to the internet through the lan. smiley - bigeyes

Let's just hope I don't do something stupid to it again. smiley - erm

So, I've ordered myself my christmas present (smiley - flyhi), which is a Maxtor DV5000 120GB 7200rpm firewire (and also usb2) external harddrive. smiley - biggrin.. so I can actually back things up, both off my laptop, other peoples' laptops, and off my desktop. It also means that I can fileshare, and that I'll have a colossal amount of space for files. (smiley - whistle)

I'm going to Southampton tomorrow (today, technically), to pick up all of the stuff from my room and cart it back to my parents house (most notably, my books, which are NOT going to be fun to pick up and carry out to the car. smiley - erm)
