..is going to be one of those 'trying to survive' days. And I'm wondering if I should be feeling quite this paranoid.
Answers on a postcard.

heya.
Oh.. just my general neuroticness. I always find christmas extremely taxing (and this christmas isn't exactly panning out to be brilliant, either).
I'm generally being neurotic about other stuff, as well. I'm almost certainly reading into things.. *shrug* ..I don't know, I'm probably just being paranoid. Who knowss...

Ah, I know how you feel. I don't want to think about it though...don't want to be today
So what specifically is s**t this year? Can't be *that* bad...just family niggles I bet...

.. well, umm.. drinking probably won't help, at least.. not for very long.. *concerned *
hmm. I'm quite confident that even if family were all perfectly amenable, there was food on the table that I could eat (apart from roast potatoes and mushroom mush), I'd had a single card (admittedly, I had two, but the person I received the first from specifically isn't talking to me, after I split up with my girlfriend, who I introduced him to as a friend and he now has .. strong feelings for, and the other one is from an ex-girlfriend who split up with me), and I actually agreed with the ethos of christmas, I'd still hate the experience. So I tend to mentally kick and scream through christmasses which degenerate into family arguing, where I'm dragged out of bed, and have to sit and smile at relatives who don't know me when I unwrap presents which demonstrate their desperation in choosing something which they think I'll like.
It's such a fake institution, christmas, it really is. There should be rules governing it. Only people who actually know each other should be allowed to give presents, and shops shouldn't be allowed to acknowledge the fact that christmas even exists.
In fact, I think that perhaps different parts of the country should have it at different times. It would be a nice cultural tradition were it to actually be in the least personal, because sitting around and giving people things and meeting up with family isn't necessarily a bad thing.
Just let me sit in a back room all of the way through it with my laptop.

Oh njan. Not to be harsh, but shut up. There are more things to be depressed over than bloody cards and relatives who don't know you abnd the false institution of Xmas. Get over it honey...just enjoy having FOOD (even if you can't eat it) on the table, drink some alcohol, watch TV, surf the net and be glad that you have that. OK? I you to bits, but coming out with all that is ridiculous...put on a coat and go for a wander. The streets are empty!! That is what I might do later...slap on the old walkman, enjoy the small things.
Ok. That does sound harsh, but I can't be bothered with being polite today.
You know I you...

Well then *scratches head* I know who would make a great kindergarten mistress, er teacher .
Hey...at least you don't ever have to do *Mormon* Christmases. When I try to mentally separate myself from things, it helps to go into 'anthropologist mode.' You know, drink and smile bemusedly at silly human b*llsh*t...
Also, you might call me if you get a chance...my holidays are shaping up to be rather pleasantly quirky - I can tell you Corona and beaver stories from last night . Also also also, I can't overstate how much holidays are improved when you are out on your own *truly* and especially when you have your own kids and are finally granted a modicum of power over your holiday life because you have a very real bargaining chip - cute little ones whose visits you can deny *hath played this card at times*.
Also..I'm not going anywhere today - I feel very ill, my eyes have never hurt more (yes yes, a sad desperation indicated by the fact that I'm still using the computer), and icy snow outside with winter storm warnings..I'm thinking driving to Lewiston will be nerve-wracking enough.
Right so...vent if you feel like it; there is no more appropriate place (though Sat may be right about the merits of a walk..but I sure as h*ll won't be dragging my a** out onto the ice today, thank you. The liquor store aint open )
All my love, baby love.
