'Christmas'
Posted Jan 3, 2000
Having looked at the decoration of h2g2 which has been emblazoned upon us, my mind was niggling somewhat... In theory, the Hitchiker's Guide is meant to be something impartial that will ofered many-sided and multi-faceted advide and guidance, but how can it claim to do so if all of its' pages celebrate one particular religion. We don't see Hannukah candles, or pentacles on all the pages at this time of year (Hannukah being a Jewish festival, and pentacles being pertenant to the Pagan Winter Solstice from which the Christian festival of Christmas wa derived).
So how, then, can it be impartial if it has Christmas trees on the sides of all the pages? And has anyone up there in the publishing house of Ursa Major actually asked any of we Guide-izens if we want Christmas trees on our pages?
As anyone looking at my page will presumable know, or guess, I am not Christian.. I am in fact an atheist, but one with a great interest in wicca, which explains the fact that I have a pentacle on my front page. (An image drawn for my article on the 5 elements..). I personally, although a celebrator of Christmas, don't really want a Chrstmas tree on my page, unless it is accompanied by other symbols from other religious denomenations. And so Here I protest...

The Holidays
Posted Aug 24, 1999
Aah, that great period of time in the holidays where all of your friends go off to exotic locations in far-away places, while you stay at home, stay in bed til 2 (Get that smirk off of your face! ) go shopping with your mum, watch bad television, and in my case, ring up huge charges on the internet.
And Rhi.....odd... I can't remember anything...Rhi...Rhi...Rhia... no... can't remember.
So lets see... Ben's in the caribbean, doing his PADI Advanced open water diver's certifi......strange... I can't seem to remember...
The best thing to do would be to construct a time machine to go back in time so that you could use the Men in Black flashy thing to make yourself forget that your friends were in exotic places, and that way, you wouldn't be depressed that they weren't there, and therefore, you'd think that your holidays were fun... hmm... let me see if it'll work...
The best thing

Apart from being an old CHemistry Teacher of mine who should heva been called Jackie ( ), the composer that coimposed the music to Star Wars... I juist decided I'd write a journal entry to pay homage to him.
In my opinion, the wonderful thing that resides in his music is the ability to make the audience feel a certain way, or experience a certain emotion. Often, the way that music works, one would assume, would be by associating the music with a certain theme, say the Imperial March with Mr. Vader, and not by merely what the music sounds like. Prove it,. you say? well, the French National Anthem doesn't make you feel patriotic, does it? Well, it does if you're French, One would suppose. But, however, even without associating the new music for the film "Phantom Menace" with the subject matter it is supposed to convey, and just by listening to the music (whether by MP3, off Music Boulevard, or by buying the soundtrack from the same -- musicblvd.com) the music still makes you feel scared, proud, happy, etc. Very odd. And a complete waste of time to talk about.

Aujourd-hui

Today, I'm having great fun... I'm feeling ill (I have a stomach and head-ache) and I'm staying at home, feeling sorry for myself. So far, I've got through 4 packets of crisps, one large phone bill (on the net) and goodness knows how many films on Channel 4.
