I just saw down with love yesterday and he gets to sing at the end of it. Fabulous. I really love his voice. velvet goldmine is something I really want to see. I hear it's very good. This is a very special birthday because he could be away in London next year teaching. I am currently colour coding our files at the office what are you up to?

I am talking to Agony Uncle Pat Pen at the moment!
I should be painting or cooking supper or something.....but ....
What is your bro going to teach in London?
Welcome back Magster
bowl of petunias Posted May 21, 2003
He'll be teaching the little ones. Kindergarden. Right now he's working full time at a pre-school with really little kids. He loves it!
what's on the menu for dinner?

Scarlet Woman, (new and improved)! Posted May 21, 2003
assorted left overs! Goan curry, 1 stuffed pancake and some braised beef with rice...
very unusual for a chap to be teaching little ones - where abouts in London? - I live there sometimes - and my kids went to kindergarten there...I might even know the school - you never know!

Evening CG & Petunia,
CG - i do hope Uncle Pat is handing out some sound advice. No wonder you have leftovers if you always cook such a lot of different things
Petunia - EMcG certainly a better bet than Jude Law!
Acrtivity of the evening: sewing (urk!) a couple of buttons onto my "smart" jacket as I am going to a Christening on Sunday. Although why I should dress smartly to go and see a baby who is probably only going to be sick on me is quite beyond me

Welcome back!
Scarlet- He hasn't figured out where he wants to teach yet. he's been in contact with an organization from the UK that hires teachers and he gets to decide what area he'd like to teach in. He's in the process of working things out. He's fabulous with children, they think that he's the greatest thing since sliced bread. i never understood that saying, why sliced bread, why not the printing press?
wysiwyger-I agree whole heartedly, Jude Law disapointed me in enemy at the gates, It's nothing I can really put my finger on it's just a feeling that he was to proper to actually belong in that dirt. Joseph Phines on the other hand!he's wonderfull!

Hazel! SO SORRY - did the Yak chomp a couple off the old DJ?
What is your gift to the poor unsuspecting infant!
A silver flask of TS mayhap?

Scarlet Woman, (new and improved)! Posted May 21, 2003
Hazel and BoP - is Enemy at the Gate/s? any good? My daughters gave it to me - I have still not watched it .... Jude Law is one of my least fave actors

Scarlet Woman, (new and improved)! Posted May 21, 2003
Hazel - what is your view on the QQ/MC meets in the offing?
I am not so sure I want to put real live faces to the logins I know and love (mostly)....but I am feeling a bit of a spoil sprot (yes I know it should be sport - but sprot sounds so nice!) It could be a bit of a bun fight if everyone turns up....and that Fred Bear is after me buns....and I feel the Yak might be at a bit of a disadvantage
What think you?

wysiwyger Posted May 21, 2003
I think we have established that NO-ONE likes Jude Law! Why on earth is he so popular - could we all be so unrepresentative?
Petunia - it occured to me that it's very confusing the way we use different names for each other. I am Hazel - a name I use on other boards. Sacrlet Woman is also known as Chelsea Girl (CG). I don't mind which you use for me. Have you a preference for BoP or Petunia? I think your bro is very brave to come & teach in London - although I think the schools are probably better now than they were a few years ago/
CG - if I could wear my usual DJ there wouldn't be a problem. As for a gift - I am naturally mean & hate spending money on useless stuff - so I am a bit stuck. It is a full family clan christening (I am just an add-on) so the baby's bound to get loads of stuffed toys, sliver cups etc. I'm in half a mind to take a box of nappies!

CG - re the meetings. I think I feel about it a bit like using Ymess - but more so! It's a great idea for those who want to join in - and I'm sure everyone will have a lot of fun - but for me, communicating this way has it's own attractions which might actually be spoiled by meeting up. It would have to change things somehow, I think. But again - that's only how I feel at the moment.
Anyway - don't think you're being a spoil-sprot (yes it is a great word) if you don't want to go

Hazel - pondering your Christening Pressie prob.
What about a nice edition of a classic book that you like yourself? No present will be of any immediate use to the babe - but a thoughtfully chosen 'good read' will be appreciated by the parents now, and by the babe, later.
The Little Prince is always a good one for a boy or, personal fave - Zuleika Dobson for a girl - not the normal winnie the pooh or wind in the willows - and you should be able to find nice hardbacks ... just an idea...

glad I am not on my own about feeling sprottish!
btw YM is a lot of fun - and you can just log out - no pressure no loss of anonymity - just faster communication when you want it - and more private too - we can say all the naughty words without a mod being prodded!
PP was giving me sound advice on teenagers on YM - I could not have talked about it on here or on the boards....
Ali would be sooo pleased if you did YM - well, we all would....

To add to my dislike of Jude Law I would also like to induct Kevin Costner, especially as the post man, yuk. I saw that movie in the theatres and had an awful time. I was laughing at all the wrong times and the people beside me were taking it very seriously and proceeded to give me nasty looks. I continued on laughing. As for the name, either is good, BoP or Petunia. or Petbop, or Bopunia, Now it's getting ridiculous.
Scarlet and wysiwyger what exactly is it that you two are discussing again?
Welcome back Magster
Scarlet Woman, (new and improved)! Posted May 21, 2003
well BoP - we are discussing a possible chance to meet all the folk we chat to on the messegeboards - which I think we are both a little ambivilant about.
I am also being very pushy and profering unsolicited advice on a Christening Pressie of an unknown (to me) babe.
There is also the question of Yahoo Messenger.....Hazel - the boys WANT you!

wysiwyger Posted May 21, 2003
Petunia - we are talking about a suggestion made on the other MBs we use, about people meeting up IRL at a pub (or indeed various pubs). A few people did this a while ago, and apparently had a great time. Some of us prefer to remain more anonymous . Also, some people use Yahoo Messenger to talk more privately than on here (which as you know is completely transparent, even to people who don't have a login). Now - hope that clears it up .
Yeah - Kevin Costner sucks too! In fact - who DO we like?
CG - I think the idea of a book is a really good one. I think maybe Alice in Wonderland would be a suitable relection of the giver .
Re: Ymess. I will think about it but at the moment I'm thinking not !!

Meeting people?
hhhhhmmmmmmm. Dangerous, could turn out great or could turn out quite badly, some people just get flustered when they have to talk to people face to face even if they are as eloquent as shakespear himself on line. Hazel you seem very popular, go get'em tiger!
Welcome back Magster
Pat Pending Posted May 21, 2003
Yeah Hazel, come get us Tiger on YM (but sod meeting up IRL unless there's a specific reason for so doing).
Evening all: just passing.

Scarlet Woman, (new and improved)! Posted May 21, 2003
BoP - you are so right - and reflect what I think Hazel feels - and me also - I love chatting to all people on the boards etc - but that is where they are - not in my RL.
This way we are in control (er- sort of!) of how much time we take from work/family to cavort in ungainly manner in virtual reality!
Also not keen on Kevin Costner - who do we like? - surely we like Sean Connery?
Key: Complain about this post
