My Whillickers! (with circus)
Posted Aug 3, 2005
Yesterday, we had a special election in Ohio in our second district, which is basically eastern Cincinnati over to Portsmouth. It's an incredibly Republican district - they won it by 72% in 2004 - but the Democrat got within four points
Okay, just had to gush a bit.
For those who don't care about that, will now perform acrobatics.
That's jumping down onto the top of a clown, or a taco, maybe, and then bouncing off, hitting his peak, and sticking the landing. The judges all give him a ten, except for the West Virginia judge, because never called his daughter back.

'Round Ten More...
Posted Jul 30, 2005
I took a count of the number of EG entries I've had accepted so far, and it stands at 87. I have three entries whose chances I like in PR now, so assuming that none of them are rejected, I'll have ten left until I hit that magic number.
My massive ego tells me to just ram through ten entries on Ohio's Contribution to Presidential Politics or Baseball's Contribution to Seinfeld or something , but I really want to take my time on these last ten and make them each better than the last.
What will I write about? I'd like to leave this site, when I eventually do, remembering with a sense of accomplishment...
I'm really asking. Ideas anyone?

Tomorrow, I depart for Florida in search of the fountain of youth! And some family
Thanks to Dennis passing the peninsula so quickly, I won't have to put it off.
I've left instructions for some UG things at the Pig and Slag, but here are some things for the general h2g2 population if they're reading this-
- Hypatia - I want to know how bad the Cards are beating the Reds in the standings... but if the Cards are at the top of the division and the Reds at the bottom, I don't want to know.
- Kat, I want you to relax, alright?
- Frood and Waz, I left my miner-whip next to the rat poison... I trust you know what to do with it.
- Scandrea, as the only Ohioan that I know of subscribed to my journal, I'm leaving you as the temporary Pooh-Bah of Ohio. Try not to declare Dayton a geological preserve or something while I'm away, because I have to live there.
- Pinniped, you'll have to bloat up your ego to make up for mine in my absence. I'm trusting you.
- Scouts, I have four entries in PR I think are ready to be picked
- Paul, spynxxx, md, Phred etc don't let the AWW go to hell.
Yes there are more, but I have to pack. I'm not sure if I'll have internet access or not (I'm guessing not), so until I see you next, be it here in Ohio or in Florida, behave yourselves

Bush on a Sidewalk is worth two in an SUV
Posted Jul 6, 2005
Yeah, that title confused me too. Don't worry about it.
It's President Bush's birthday today. And he went on a bike ride in Scotland - resulting in a crash, in which he ran into a policeman. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/4658327.stm
No, he didn't manage to bang up a terrist... or even a Frenchman for that matter (he dislikes them, not me). Just a policeman He then proceeded to drive off in an SUV.
If you'd like to wish President Bush a happy birthday and remind him of his 'legacy', please sign the Bush birthday card, courtsey of the Democratic National Committee http://www.democrats.org/page/petition/bushbirthdaycard
Also, celebrate by becoming an <./>UnderGuide</.> miner at A1092494. Tell 'em the sheep sent you.

Oh beautiful, for spacious skies...

Happy Fourth of July, everybody. Especially to my American friends.
Why not celebrate the 229th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence by writing to your Senators and Congressman, demanding that s/he call on Karl Rove to resign? Or celebrate by putting a flag on the grill at your Fourth barbecue before the Senate votes to pass an amendment banning that?
(by the way, one of my Senators sent me back a form reply. Only the reply was actually about something else entirely... almost like Mr DeWine didn't read my message at all! )
Or! Celebrate by joining the <./>UnderGuide</.> as a volunteer. Oh, yes! Do this one. It involves the least amount of writing and isn't a fire hazard.
The miners page is at A1092539 and the gem polishers are at A1092575. Leave a message there, or here if you'd like. Anybody can join. A lot of our finest miners had no experience in the AWW or creative writing before they signed up for the task.
