All about Mel
What a cool website! Hi, everyone. I am just an Okie (from Oklahoma, USA) who loves British humor. Douglas Adams is my absolute favorite author and before he died, he was the one author I really wanted to meet in person some day. I fancy myself a writer and have a master's degree in professional writing from Oklahoma University(GO SOONERS!). However, I am well aware that having a degree in writing doesn't mean squat unless you actually publish something. That's where I'm at right now, trying to get some young adult fiction novels published, while teaching some intro to mass media writing classes at OU.
I am 24, single (but with boyfriend) and quite content with it for the moment. No children either and I am very content with that, as the rest of my family seems to be supplying the heartland of America with plenty of offspring, so I don't feel the need to contribute. I have four nieces and three nephews and I like the role of Aunt Melanie very much. I am also a proud owner of a nosy little beagle who was rescued by a friend and given to me flea ridden and malnutritioned. Seeing as how the little guy (I named him Bacon) had such a hard beginning, I have made it a point to spoil him rotten. Bacon has come a long way from the pathetic little creature he was when my friend brought him to me and he may now legally own my house. If not, you could have fooled me.
