More Whining About The Road to Gainful Employment

I should just permanently change the name of my journal to "Whining about finding a job." Recently I read an article in a local paper about how there are no jobs available in Norman (where I live). It is this kind of information that makes we want to make my two degrees and jump into a volcano.
Now, I am seeking employment outside of Norman as well, but that is moot. Norman has always been a fairly wealthy and thriving city. Now college kids can't even find summer jobs. What the hell? Do you know why college kids cannot find jobs? Because post-graduates like me have taken those part time jobs to supplement our own crappy incomes.
Yes, I am officially working part time at a shopping mall starting on Monday. It's not that I mind that kind of work or consider myself above it (I don't). It's that I am going to be working a total of 60 hours or more and barely scraping by. That is bullshit.
I have had one more interview. The job is to teach high school journalism, but because I did not go to school specifically to be a teacher I have to go through an alternative certification process. Guess how much that costs? After all the tests and background checks and interviews with board members, I will have dished out about $400. And this is for a job I may or may not get. I have to go through all this to even be seriously considered, and it's not like they reimburse you afterward.
I have been feeling very much like I am in the movie "Office Space" lately. People are not meant to live like this. I make up excuses to do errands just so I can get out of the office and remind myself there is sunshine, but how many times can you possibly go across the street for coffee in one day without getting fired?
So far six has not been a problem. (Note: I don't actually get coffee every time I go.)
Key: Complain about this post

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
