Gentlemen you may wish to cross your legs!
Posted Sep 29, 2004
I was in the pub with friends last night, one who is training to become a vet. She was dropping off to sleep over her so I asked what she’d been up to all day.
There was a gap in the various other conversations going on around us at this point and as she replied “Castrating horses” all the blokes round the table winced, crossed their legs and provided that extra bit of shelter with their hands (or checked that everything was still intact) and generally looked rather pained.
Great conversation killer that one. And the simulations response was brilliant.

I caught my first one on Sunday.

My first wave that is.
A group of us went down to Cornwall for the weekend (one of the ringers has a house down there). Having done rather a lot of ringing and drinking Friday evening and during Saturday, Sunday was a much more relaxed day. The weather was glorious and so I was persuaded to don a wetsuit (second skin really) and two of us went off body boarding. Great fun, and the sea was reasonably warm.
Plans are afoot for the next trip sometime in the spring. Or should that be now?

Peers round the door....

Mmmm, it all looks rather peaceful round here.
So I had a week or so off work to start on some packing and general tidying in preparation for the move only to be well and truly thwarted.
Why does time fly past soooo quickly?
Well at least I had a couple of very nostalgic afternoons re-reading old letters sent to me whilst I was at Uni and I even found some old junior school projects tucked away in the bottom of a box.
Since then I've been curled up , and fairly useless to humanity.

Battle of the bustles
Posted Jul 14, 2004
It was the first dress rehearsal for the show last night, only I seem to be lacking in dress!
I've got a full Victorian rig, complete with a busstle (very awkward to get into) and rather a nice hat.
Apart from that and some plastic armour that makes me look like the tin man from the Wizard of Oz I'm a tad short on the costume front. Looks like I'll be attacking the English in a busstle then.

I didn't mean to do that!!!

What an evening. As it was chucking it down with rain we moved the fight rehearsal to a small village hall a couple of miles down the road from the castle.
The Welsh skirmishers set to work in seperate corners of the hall before we all join up to finish work on the ambush. All great fun.
Off we set, the front group leading the way. A few seconds in and I go for the English guardsman with an overhead blow.
*Flash, Bang, Smoke, Tinkle. *
Guess who's forgotten about the strip lighting and swung her sword with slightly too much enthusiasm. Just as the director walks in through the hall doors.
Ooopppss!!!!
I couldn't even hide for a bit to regain normal colouring as I had to go and surpress a mob.
I just hope it stops raining for Sunday, I'm not fighting inside again!
