I was in the pub with friends last night, one who is training to become a vet. She was dropping off to sleep over her so I asked what she’d been up to all day.

There was a gap in the various other conversations going on around us at this point and as she replied “Castrating horses” all the blokes round the table winced, crossed their legs and provided that extra bit of shelter with their hands (or checked that everything was still intact) and generally looked rather pained.

Great conversation killer that one. And the simulations response was brilliant.

Nasty.

Needless to say all the females present were doubled up ing.

I did watch the Tony Robinson worst jobs in history on Saturday, there was a bit about Castratos and how they were ‘done’. B sat wincing through that.

Oh, there was this guy who did....what do you call it....playing around with swords stuff......he came in with a sword through his tummy and mum roared out loud shouting "Someone's upset Odo!"

Some things will always tweak a response, reguardless of experiences. I unfortunately dealt the emasculating blow to well over a hundred piggies one summer, and still cringe .....

which reminds me, in a completely off-topic way, that I was watching some history thing on telly a few weeks ago and they were tracking down some v.old furniture from the middle ages. One of the people they went to visit to view such was no less than the Bishop of Bath and Wells! I have to admit, he didn't look like he ate babies at all!

Just that Odo was a nasty Blackadder type Bishop in his time, and of course he ate babies! But I think all the really top class Bishops are supposed to do that.
