I like the little icon but, maybe because I am in Alabaster, I can't really see the yellow musical note. Maybe make it a darker shade of pale?

No one ever does. It's a brave new world out there.
Those of us who learned to read and write with black ink on white paper are a vanishing breed.
Or, to put it a way you gooey yung'uns might appreciate, "What yellow musical note?"
I don't see no yellow note, just a 'Don't' symbol with 'nothing' in it. Which I thought was cool, meaning 'don't do nothing', cuz doing nothing is even easier than not doing something.
alabasterd as always

i confused. par for the course really. how will angsty riffs and noise fit with Dylan, i wonder? we can('t) but try

Arlecchino (school gets in the way) Posted Jul 17, 2001
Oh, you misunderstood me, then. Dylan is not a lyical influence, as opposed to not being a musical influence. Not singing Dylan type lyrics while you don't play an angsty bass line could work quite well.
By the way, I've added an Alabaster'd version of the smiley, which has a black musical note rather than a yellow one, and therefore shows up better on the white background. In contrast the black musical note is almost invisible to Classic Goo users.

I always thought the rabbit off 'The Magic Roundabout' was way cool...or are we talking a different 'Dylan'

Arlecchino (school gets in the way) Posted Jul 17, 2001
I'm talking about Robert Zimmerman, AKA Bob Dylan, who are you talking about?

I didn't think Dylan's Sub. Hom. Blu. was rap. He was certainly singing quickly, but it was in time with the music.
btw -- Bob Dylan was the voice for Dylan from the magic roundabout. It's true.
-- David, and if you'll believe me, you'll believe anyone

Arlecchino (school gets in the way) Posted Jul 18, 2001
The distinction I'm making is that Sub. Hom. Blu. isn't really singing, since there's no melodic quality to the vocal. Which isn't meant as an insult to his singing voice -- it's just that it was closer to speach than song, and closer to Rap than talking blues.

I disagree. But I have no desire to convert the world to my way of thinking.

i would go as far as to say that all of Dylans songs did not feature actual singing. i dont think hes capable of it.

Arle....
There used to be a children's programme called 'Magic Roundabout' and one of the characters was a hippy rabbit called 'Dylan'.

I will however agree that SHB could be seen as a rap.... Bob Dylan's skill was as a composer and lyricist.. as a singer he shouldn't have given up his day job

Well, certainly he was never in the running to be one of the "Three Tenors", nor could he make it as a Backstreet Boy, but his voice was somehow right for the songs. And just because it isn't /good/ singing, doesn't mean it wasn't singing.

Backstreet boys? Three Tenors? Mmmm are we all still arguing about music or has someone been reading out there CD collection?

Actually I can't stand either the Backstreet Boys OR the Three Tenors. I don't like voices that are too, um, smooth. I prefer John Lennon's, Kurt Cobain's or Janis Joplin's.

I would like it if I could understand some of the lyrics to "Smells Like Teen Spirit", though.
