"The End of the Line" wasn't Dylan, or at least not Dylan alone. It was the Wilburries. I think that song was mostly Harrison and Petty. Dylan did do "Tweeter and the Monkey Man".

Harlequin {Keeper of Contradictions, Ambiguity and Things You Shouldn't Ask But Do} Posted Jul 24, 2001
Sittin on the dock of the bay in nutbush city limits
with my girl, thinking she's more than a number in my little red-book,
and the things we said today, what's goin' on ? She said she said.
I saw the girl of my best friend and like sister and brother we waved to each other,
walk on by was my prayer,
Lonely teardrops, the tears of a clown, all day and all of the night,
smells of teen spirit, since you've been gone,
close to the edge, needing oxygen, between the gutter and the stars,
In my life, I'm between insects and angels, my english rose, (she is) leaving, and so the story goes, the death of a clown.

If Harlequin keeps this up we may actually have to record something.
Yes, the Travellin Wilbury's! Full points. Go to the head of the class. But did no one see the antecedent previously referenced about the clang clang trolley, ding ding bell, and riding to the 'end of the line'? See! There woulda been bonus points for that. Stay sharp now, there'll be more snap quizzes.
peace

I'm actually wondering why no one has ever tried to write a hit song using the titles of other peoples tunes
Is waiting for the ghost train to heartbreak hotel

Uncle Heavy's claim of 'best song ever written' must surely not be ignored. I'll challenbge him on it if no one else will/
Hey you. Why didn't you say it was the best song ever 'unwritten'? It needs a little work yet methinks ..but only fools and generals judge unfinished work.

Comparing Generals to fools is an insult to fools everywhere, and I take it personally! Take it back!
