I'm a big person, but not a Big Person. I suspect I have too much hair for that...

>>(hell, my own name is spelt with two 'm's coz I misspelt it from the beginning. D'oh) <<
I've often wondered about that as I've seen you around the place

I'm just calling him Oojakagosh, and the heck with it.
It's a compromise: it lets him have three of the four syllables of his choice, with gosh at the end.

Ah, well, now you know Sho I could have changed it to Emily, when I discovered my mistake, but I liked the uniqueness of it; there are lots of Emily's on h2g2, but only one Emmily
Gosho is a unique name too, or at least it used to be...

Having wandered in from <./>Info</.>, I'm just delurking for a moment to note that there was a Japanese film director called Gosho Heinosuke (surname-first word order).

Our own dear Gosho, I believe, got his name from the works of Messrs. Willans and Searle.

I'm curious to know how HappyDude works out that GreyDesk was a Big Person around here when HD was a newbie, since HD has a lower U number than GD Reverse temporal engineering?
I'm female.
Yes, I have a fan club.
I don't take part in h2g2 as much as I used to.
The momentum is building quite nicely now And I'm absolutely certain that Gosho must be lurking here - we all know him well enough to know that he's reading all this with relish

Knowing it came from goshoooogoshooogosh (or whatever it was a couple of years ago) I've always pronounced it as .....
gosh-oh -
however the director above is pronounced go-show (I think)
I assumed it was Gosho started the campaign though another name is in the frame too.

> I think more people changing their nickname would help.
Myself, I don't see the point, nor do I think it likely to make a difference. But then, I wasn't a fan of the Tony Curtis campaign, either.

My feeling is that both nickname campaigns are sort of 'cute' and some more lovely h2g2 silliness.
But Oojakapiv (yes, I can spell it, it's not all that difficult!) will change his name if and when he wants to.

Yes, but it doesn't hurt him (or his ego) to let him know we liked the old name.

I still think of him as Gosho, and always will no matter what he feels like calling himself. It'd be nice if he changed it back, but if he wants to be called something else then that's his bag...
It's a funny thing though, this whole identity lark - there are three versions of my real name that people have called me by during my lifetime, and I can usually work out exactly when they met me on the basis of what name they use when talking to me.
