A petition to persuade Gosho to change his name back
paulh, vaccinated against the Omigod Variant Posted Jul 4, 2005
Mostly I've just been "Paul" all my life. In grammar school, people sometimes called me "Charley." That stopped when I got into high school. In college, some people called me "Champ." At work, people call me "Diidles" sometimes, though not often.

Let's change "Diidles" to "Doodles."
(That's what you get when you put "i' next to "o" on the keyboard. )

See, when I saw it, I thought you meant 'Diddles'. That could have all sorts of interesting meanings.

I would like to add my name to the petition to get Oojamaflip to change his name back to Gosho. I never knew him as Gosho, as I arrived here too late, but everyone else seems to want it to happen and I have a very short attention span and am easily lead.
Ooh look, a dog.

The thing is, after a while you can easily tell when someone has a new journal entry, just by the subject line of the conversation that pops up on your page.
So when I see a new subject line that sounds like it belongs to Gosho, I think "Oh, that'll be Gosho".
But as the page loads in, I see this Oojathingynamethathasabout87lettersinit. Doesn't do any good, I still think, "Yeah, it's Gosho's".
Some of us don't adapt to such extreme changes well, and I'm one of them. He'll always be Gosho to me, although I may eventually adjust enough to call him Goshooja.

See, I wouldn't mind if Gosho kept a different name than Gosho (Oojamaflip is such a funny name, I could go along with it ), but considering all the delightfully weird and funny names that so many researchers have come up with, I can't fathom his choosing Ojakawhatever. Okay, so admittedly that's a *weird* name. Now I'm waiting for the funny bit.

Of course, there are some of us who stay pretty close to our *real* names. Nothing wrong with that, either.
