As we look to the sky, I hope that we can remember that the efforts of our astronauts have made our search for other life a possibility. Let their lives be remebered forever.

That happened shortly before Salmon of Doubt was announced. My guess is that his family turned on the machine for some reason and it is still kicking out units.

I assumed someone turned on the computer also. If they only realized, we could get him bumped up to #1!

I think this movement is pretty recent, like in the last couple of weeks. I'm sure that the last time I looked so high up the list that his stats were 1,085ish with a last return date in the autumn of 2001.

congrats!
I remember when I was making the collaborate entry for seti@home, that someone logged into DNA's account and sent off a unit, which was approx. 6 months after he died. I remember reading the reason and the posting, Peta was involved as well.
How weird you should be having a conversation about him, I just read in my paper this morning about a relationship he had {with a married woman} in 1980's.

DNA's stats have definately moved.
The last one was sent off late 2001.
What I don't understand is how, if it's not his own pc, how anyone could log into his account at seti, his email address would be needed....

1800 came and went without my noticing. I guess next stop is 2000 then (if the project lasts that long) 2500 for my next certificate.

With a bit of memory tweaking I've managed to get my usual times to under 5 hours. Well under if I'm not doing anything much else with the PC!
