I can't even make good flat pizza these days Paul - so am staggered that you can make your own calzone

I take huge liberties with the crust, lanzababy. The taste is great, and I'm not going to quibble about how they look.

You bake them in an oven. They are basically pizzas that have crust on top, on the bottom, and on the sides. I modify the crust and use baking powder, not yeast.

I know what pasties are. They are very similar to calzones, though their fillings are apt to have different ingredients such as chunks of beef or pork, potatoes, carrots, etc. Anything you would normally put on a pizza could be put into a calzone.

these had melted cheese like hot plasma and diced peppers
a pizza folded over in the middle, sealed around the edge and then deep fried so the outside was like a McDs hot apple pie

Yes, that may well be a variation of a calzone. I suppose a calzone could be deep-fried...

We had the pheasants last night. They were excellent, and a perk of living in the country. There have to be some consolations, as there are hardly any other things to do here.
I went into the town yesterday afternoon and the shelves were almost stripped bare, because the local population is well used to being snowed in. It could be a long and snowy winter here and everyone will just hole up with a full pantry and deep freezers.

I'm confused. I thought Lanzababy was in the tropics.
Where is she that has all that snow?

I flew back to my parents home in Staffordshire for Christmas!
It's cold! I am going back to the sunshine after the hols.
