Quest for the Hammer of Light
iaoth Posted Jul 12, 2001
* The zombies scream and hiss in pain as they are consumed by flames. The skeletons seem unaffected. *
[Azrael] This is taking forever.
* He draws his sword and rides into the fray, decapitating skeletons as he goes. Unfortunately, skeletons don't seem to need heads. While their supposedly most vital bodypart is hacked away, they pull Azrael off his horse. *
[Azrael] Ahh!

* Azrael stands up, tossing a few skeletons aside. He starts attacking the skeletons around him. *
[Azrael] This.. (hack, hack) ..is getting.. (slice) ..boring!
* He manages to cut some skeletons into so small pieces that they can't move, clearing up the battle a bit. During this brief respite, he surveys the situation. *
[Azrael, to himself] They're not trying to kill us. They're slowing us down!
* He mounts his horse. *
[Azrael] Ribald! This is useless, let's leave!

[Ribald] Great idea! Onward, Lampwick!

* They leave the battlefield. *
[Azrael] We're almost there.
* Indeed, the mountain range has sneaked up on them and is now considerably closer. After a few hours, the scenery changes. The sand turns into a rocky landscape interspersed with thorny shrubbery and grassy knolls. Ahead, the morning sun appears from behind the looming montains, casting ominous shadows on the adventurers. The warmth of the sun is a welcome contrast to the cold Wasteland night. *
[Azrael] Finally. There should be a stream somewhere around here where we can get a bit of rest.

Is it just me or has Ribald been reduced to Azrael's trusty follower? Maybe he just actually agrees, all the time? Well, why not.
* After a bit of searching, they can soon hear a splashing, watery noise. By following it, they find a miniature waterfall that flows out of a hole in the mountain into a small pond. Azrael raises an eyebrow and then dismounts. *
[Azrael] This'll do, I guess.

[Ribald] Great. Lampwick, set up camp.
[Lampwick sets up camp]
[Ribald] Great.

[Ribald] I'm tired. I'm not up to expanding my vocabulary at the moment.

Hm, it looks like Kimini is tired too.
* Azrael looks around. *
[Azrael] Well, I guess we made pretty good time. You people get some rest and I'll stay up and guard the camp.
* He starts to leave, but stops. *
[Azrael] Oh, and let's get this straight. I'm not being unselfish or anything, it's just that I don't really trust anyone but myself.

[Azrael] Good.
* Azrael turns away and sees to his horse. *
If you're wondering why we aren't making much progress, I'm waiting for Indy to catch up, plus it's late and I need some sleep.

Plus I'm waiting for you guys to say whether your PCs will try to get some sleep or not.

It almost seems to me that Indefatigable isn't interested in playing anymore. She wrote two moderately long postings in other threads yesterday and didn't even bother to say hi in this thread.

It would seem so.
Let's not bother with Indy, I guess.

Grr... sorry about that... Say you've lost me along the way or something, and if I ever have time I'll find my way back. If not, then I'll just drop out of it. No offense meant, I've just been insanely busy this week.
