Voice of God: GET ON WITH IT!
Quest for the Hammer of Light
Wargamer (The Wanderer) Posted Sep 2, 2002
*Seeing that the lesser races are still trying to recover from the recent unpleasantries, N'kai decides to push them a little further.*
[N'kai] Everyone! Let's go! Every fiend for thirty miles must have heard all that noise. So we're moving out! Unless anyone would like to stay...

[Ribald] 'Course not!
[Lampwick] I wouldn't want to for my /life/.

[N'kai] Alright, let's move!
*Begins to leave, then suddenly stops. He turns, slowly, to face the location of the strange, disembodied voice that spoke to Lampwick.*
[N'kai] Something's not right here...

[Lampwick] [trying to look] Oh? Did I drop something?
Quest for the Hammer of Light
ED-E42 Posted Sep 6, 2002
A shadowy figure seems to flicker in and out of existence behind Lampwick. The others in the party seem oblivious of the presense. Lampwick himself does not even consciously acknowledge that a voice spoke anywhere but in his head. In a distant chamber Bel tilts his head as his eyes flicker beneath closed lids. Back with the heroes, the shade's dark visage fades completely out of sight. N'kai furrows his brow and it starts to flicker into sight again.
Shade: You resist the mind bend... impressive. What cannot be decieved can be blinded though...
Bel mutters a few incantation and the shade launches a vicious mental attack against N'kai. Through the psychic being Bel focuses his powers, his goal nothing short of breaking the walls around N'kai's inner eye.
staggering and clutching your skull is probably in order... try not to one-post it away...
if this doesn't add some life to the thread, lord knows what will- what race are you anyway?

Eldar. Think Elven, but more so.
*N'kai cries out in pain. His armour seems to flash, and the pain stops. The entity tries again and again, but can only strike for a moment before it is repulsed by N'kai's enchanted armour.*
[N'kai] Gah! Who... What is this... Aaarrgh!!
Quest for the Hammer of Light

The shade throws back its head and howls in rage. Were there a temporal psychic watching this scene they'd be warding themselves against the psychic energy that is building in the being, but since there doesn't seem to be the party is oblivious to anything but N'kai's sudden outbursts. The shade flickers into reality for a brief second as it drops all illusions. He is only visible for a moment as he unleashes and unseen shockwave that slams into all of the party members. He flickers back out of sight as the raging psychic energies batter upon the minds of all present.
gotta get the rest of these lazy mutes into the act

[N'kai] Gah! Khensa Mesia Khaine! What /is/ that!?
Quest for the Hammer of Light
Dizzy H. Muffin Posted Sep 17, 2002
[Lampwick] [muffled] Don't worry, I can pick it all up again, once this throbbing in my head goes down from apocalyptic to merely torturous.

The Shade drifts towards N'kai, tendrils laced with suggestions of agony lash across the pained forms on the ground. The more N'kai focuses on the Shade the more often it is visible. A mass of misty black tenticles shroud a face free of all features. The head bobs side to side and a whispering voice echos in N'kai's ears.
Shade: All i had to do was follow you. The Lord did not mention one of /your/ kind was present. You had to resist! And look what pain it has gotten for your friends! You chose this fight! Accept the price!
Misty tendrils stretch out towards the members of the party.
Isn't it about time to kill this guy? Soo.... just for the records, Shades are fully ethereal creatures. Their form is completely lacking physical substance. They sacrificed their bodies to suppliment their mental powers. I'm sure N'kai must have some mystical weapon that can hurt him...

*N'kai staggers to his feet, raising his sword in a two-handed stance. For a moment, he looks like an ancient Elven king of old. He swings at the ethereal beast, the Blade of Eternal Death slicing it apart with a psychic scream that echoes across the chamber. N'kai stands motionless for a while, then slowly kneels over.*
Happy?
