Great, Clive. Means it needn't stop at The Font.

And I've got MOSI to look forward to on the Thursday!

I certainly hope so. Be god to hook up with Mr and Mrs Pastey, and maybe arrange a music weekend.

Would suggest bringing Vera, but don't want to start an uncivil war in Manchester.

I might nip along to Font. I have that week off work now, but my schedule depends on a few different appointments I need to finalise.

Dr Anthea - ah who needs to learn things... just google it!

this may be asking for too much organisation, but what time would people like to meet up?

I'll be arriving at 13:50, and then need to book into my hotel, as well as get something to eat.
I'll probably go to the Manchester museum that afternoon, and then head to the Font, so I can be flexible.

I could defer eating until getting to the Font.

Please advise when others will get there.

Magwitch - My name is Mags and I am funky.

I'll only be coming to Font on the Wednesday, getting the train up from my end, hubby will be picking me up (don't fancy waiting for seven hours at the Station).

I'll just need a time so I'm not on me Bob (not that I can't bring a book and sit somewhere conspicuous with a pint smiley - winkeye)

I'll be there roughly an hour after I roll out of bed and onto a train: it'll probably depend on the weather.

Just Bob aka Robert Thompson, plugging my film blog cinemainferno-blog.blogspot.co.uk

I usually get back to Manchester after work a bit after 6, but I'm not that keen on The Font's food so I'll probably grab something in town and be there around 6:30.

I should be able to get there about an hour after I escape from work, assuming I've planned ahead and am on the train/tram. Likely to join you 7ish - hope people aren't too many pints ahead of me by then. Shame it's a school night.

It was my intention to check into the hotel then mooch about Manchester for a bit (MMF if you want to hit the museum together, let me know! I kinda fancied seeing Manchester's science museum.)

So - I'll be around - and can head pubwards around 6-ish.

I don't know what I'm wearing but I'm sure it will be fabulous! smiley - diva

Secretly Not Here Any More

If anyone's after museums in Manchester, and already did MOSI at the last Meet, I do have a few other recommendations.

Manchester Museum (http://www.museum.manchester.ac.uk/) - Dinosaurs, mummies, and some of the tattiest taxidermy available. My dad used to take me and ar kid here as children, and we loved it. I took L last summer as adults, and we till loved it.

It's a short bus ride from Font.

Imperial War Museum North (http://www.iwm.org.uk/visits/iwm-north) - Considering the title is full of bluster, it's a very balanced museum, big on the horror of war. The current exhibition is on frontline medicine. If it's half as good as the exhibition on journalism in warzones that I saw there last year, it'll be worth a look.

You'll need to take the Met from St Peter's Square to one of the Salford Quays stops. It's just a short walk from there, and you get to stare at the architectural monstrosity that is The Lowry Centre too.

People's History Museum (http://www.phm.org.uk/) - I've never been, but it's been on my to-do list for about a decade and a half. It's the museum dedicated to the common folk of t'north.

Any of the buses towards Salford stop here, or it's about six minutes in a taxi from Font.

And one to avoid:

National Football Museum (http://www.nationalfootballmuseum.com/) The Urbis building used to be a great free gallery showcasing some really interesting modern art. Now, it's a football museum. Apparently the football museums at Manchester United and Manchester City weren't enough. Current top exhibit is the white suit that Robbie Fowler wore before the 1996 FA Cup final. That isn't a joke.

It's by Manchester Victoria train station. Don't go.

Thanks Mr603.

I've been to both The Lowry (not impressed, but hadn't been open long) and the IWMN (which I was impressed with) so shall avoid.

I went to the Manchester Museum with Frenchie last year, but only completed about 1/4 of it, so would like to revisit it.

I remember when it was Manchester University, and the Science Museum was also in Oxford Road, not far from BBC Manchester. There weren't quite dinosaurs walking roaming the campus at the time, but it was a while ago...

I love the Lowry, I think it's quite a nice building. In all my time in Manchester I never actually got around to going in the Imperial War Museum, which is quite a big oversight.

MMF the Manchester Museum is still part of the University as is the Whitworth Art Gallery which is a short walk from the museum.
