I ate at FKS in Rhosneigr. This place is really cool. In my fantasy life I would run this business. It is a kite surf school and creperie. It's run by a polish/french couple. The buckwheat pancakes and cider could be lifted straight from the Pyrenees. The waiting staff are friendly and helpful although the pancake chef looks furious at spending her time cooking pancakes rather than surfing. There is also fish depending on the success of the local fisherman.

I am mainly traveling around the country eating at the moment. I ate at Yuzu in Manchester. The surroundings are lovely, bespoke wooden furniture carved into the walls. The vegetarian menu was limited (tempura, tempura and rice or tempura and noodles) but it was really good. Surly waitresses and inscrutable waiters always add a touch of authenticity to the dining experience and the service was slow enough that we had a good long look at the remarkable furniture. The sake list was good...

I feel there may have been some sarcasm in that review. Can't quite put my finger on where, though.

2legs - Hey, babe, take a walk on the wild side...

I had a Cornish pasty, hot, from the Bakery place on Burley street... It was massive, and really rather tasty and filling... Quite why anyone walks past it, adn into the supermarket to buy plastic tasteless pre-made sandwichs, is beyond me... both cheaper and tastier from the little bakery smiley - weird And, less likely to contain strange enzymes used as 'preparation agents', in the mass produced bread plastic sandwichs are constructed from.. Enzymes which, may be extracted from Pigs pancreases, animal hair, GM bacteria/microorganisms, some of which are carcinogenic, allergy inducing and none of which, legally has to be listed on the ingrediants in shop bought bread, or bread-products, such as the tasteless pre-made sandwichs... I'd rather eat a tin of dog food.
mmmm... dog food smiley - drool

Slightly sarcastic, but it was sort of charmingly inept.

Nice place, lovely atmosphere, good food. Very accomodating to our noisy crowd - 8 adults and 4 boys under 5.

I discovered why Danish pastries are famed the world over. In their original state, they're gorgeous.

The Gospel Hall near my parents has a cafe serving cheap food for the elderly. It's called "The Lord Giveth". I was quite amused to see they've started doing a delivery service to the housebound so it seems "The Lord Giveth" also do takeaways smiley - biggrin

One of the numerous crummy sandwich bars, to my mind, near the High Court last friday.

Double espresso was quite good though..and properly intense.

I still seem to be mainly travelling and eating.

I ate at Roxies oon Borough High Street (SE1) with friends. I love this bar, it has a kind of sleazy 1020's Parisan feel that I never encountered in Paris. The walls are hung with red velvet drapes and the bar is populated with cafe style tables. a movie screen shows French animation and smokey music plays. I had a meal (the single vegetarian option) that confused me. It was made up of a nest of noodles wrapped around sundried tomatoes and goats cheese served with mashed potato and peas. all the individual bits were nice but why put them together? I found myself wishing for the less ambitious spinch and ricotta canelloni.

Mol - on the new tablet

We ate from (but not at, because it's tiny) Ewyas Harold fish and chip shop on Saturday. Not only was the food fantastic, but it was excellent value, and the staff and locals were lovely.

I had a Tindaloo at Eastern Tandoori in Eccles.

Nearly killed me. And the next day wasn't pleasant.

Brilliant stuff, highly recommended.

Went to Lahores in Bradford for lunch with a mate today. I'm really rather addicted to their keema and fries.

I ate at Little Tokyo in Leeds. I think this is one of the best places in the UK for vegetarian Japanese food. They have a huge menu (12 different veggie bento boxes) and everything is really good. It is also a restaurant that couldn’t exist further south where land values are higher as it is too sprawling; inside they have two rooms and they are connected by a bridge (what are the bridges called that you get on Dresden China?) and there is a large ornamental goldfish pond. They only have 2 sorts of sake but there was a warm plum wine which was lovely.

2legs - Hey, babe, take a walk on the wild side...

Standing at, leaning against, what William and I k now call the 'cornish passtey wall', on the opposite side to the bakery on Burley street Cambridge, from where we had purchased, a cornish pasty each... they're nice... we'll probably have them again when we walk that way tommorrow, the last time was, err... Wednesday smiley - blush We're just waiting for the council to put a sign up on the wall saying 'cornish pasty eating is prohibited against this wall, between the hours of...' smiley - snorksmiley - blush

The last Indian I had, a takeaway, from the formally really very excellent Indian takeaway near me, was unusual, along with all the regular ingrediants for a lamb dansak, they had additionally placed sharp pieces of bent stiff metal wire in my meal, I won't be using them again, clearly their changing hands recently has done a great detriment to a formally leading local Indian takeaway smiley - wahsmiley - grr
