I'm not really here Posted Jun 20, 2007
Don't most people buy stuff they can sell? Now it's been mentioned, I reckon the culprit is the offspring of those people. They've just borroed the card the put it back because mum/dad noticed!

This was a particularly amusing advert in the lonely column of the Speccie last week:
I'm 44 years old, divorced for 4 years, financially independent, 2 children, part-time teacher, 5ft6, medium build, blue eyes, brown hair, gsoh, honest, reliable, thoughtful, caring. Beds. please call me on...
I wonder if she meant that?

Spotted a new one that annoys me.
The aquafresh advert, there's a mum, a dad and a child and each one of them has their own individual tube of toothpaste.
Yeah, like thats gonna happen.
It'd be 1 tube between all 3 of them.
It just annoys me!

The Aquafresh ad is cute! Very old fashioned...
We're back full circle to the "Album of the year" "listen to the joy of so and so's voice". Surely it's not the run up to Chrimbo yet? Oh, and "buy it for dad!" for one of those collections cds they come up with *every year*!

"Album of the year"
or
"Single of the year"
Two points:
Who voted it album/single of the year? Why wasn't I asked to take part in the poll?
How do these people have access to all the music that will be released from July up to the new year?

I do love it when they claim these things in any way between january and july... At least by July you'll have SOME idea what you might be up against!

"Best film of the year"!
I heard this describing a film in February. OK, it was The Last King Of Scotland, but even so...wrong.

Arrrrgh! The vanish advert where they kindly point at the woman's grey shirt then the white background. Good job they do the pointing, because otherwise how would we know what to look at?

Yael Smith Posted Jul 4, 2007
But but but... she thought it was white, and actually it's faded-bluey-grey so they must point her in the right direction!
The bingo sites, especially the one endorsed by Sharon Osborne... is this *really* what women want? Did you ask... I don't know... me?

Primeval Mudd (formerly Roymondo) Posted Jul 4, 2007
Not really relevant to the thread (but hey, I started it!) but I have decided that I will no longer be using Sainsbury's. They've put little tellies in Sainsbury's which show music videos but then a shouty divot pops up every minute or so to tell me about a special offer on Coca Cola. On Monday afternoon I finally snapped, left my shopping in a specials rack and departed. I've sent the obligatory 'sort it out' email but doubt it'll have any effect (or even a reply.)
It's bad enough having to put up with it for the five minutes your in the queue: I dread to think what it must be like for Sainsbury's employees.

I see your point and raise you Yates's.

I don't think I've ever been in a Yates's, for which I feel fortunate.

As well you should, Roymondo. Dire food, dire atmosphere, dire music, dire service, dire concept. DIRE!

Ah, finally I saw another thats annoying me recently.
The Southern Comfort advert where they are blatantly trying to jump on the Jack Daniels band wagon by calling/attempting to brand themselves "SoCo". Go into a bar and ask for a JD & coke.
They'll know what you mean.
In the same bar ask for a "Soco" & Coke.
Expect to hear the words "Eh, whats thats then?" as no one calls it Soco. Southern, maybe. But Soco, I doubt it.

to the SoCo advert. The whole thing's annoying.
The new AA add- how sexist can you get? Not a single man needed his car repaired and not a single woman came to rescue a stranded driver. Shame on the AA!

Re: the AA ad beign sexist. Only now you mention it, yes it is.
It's time they had some ladies in it.

I was somewhat perplexed at an advert for "Radio Frequency (RF) Cosmetic Therapy" in our local free glossy lifestyle mag for the twittering housewives with too much money and time on their hands. Seems it works using a radio transmitter to heat up the flesh. Just like a microwave oven, in fact.
So, despite whining about the dangers of radiation from cellphone masts and Wi-Fi routers (but won't somebody please think of the children ), the great uneducated middle-classes are now deliberately irradiating themselves because some quack told them it'll get rid of their cellulite
