Finished playing Blue Dragon and am now on The Last Remnant. Seriously smiley - cool graphics, rather excellent gameplay too.

I've tried many of the above mentioned but still keep going back to Age of Empires on the PC. Didn't like how they tried to fancy-up III so I play II with the Conquerors expansion. It's fairly dire compared to many of the more recent games but I keep going back.

I can still crack out Civ II, and get stupidly hooked on it for a while....

'Civ II' is excellent, the pinnacle of the Civ games in my opinion. The move to isometric graphics helped and the fully customisable graphics and rules also added a great deal to the game.

Wasn't so keen on 'Civ III', the implementation of proper national borders was a big plus but the resources system, which probably sounded great on paper, unbalanced the gameplay more than adding to it. I can't really be bothered with 'Civ IV' since they've unnecessarily done the whole thing in 3D, a major bugbear of mine.

I found Fable 2 to be the single most disappointing 7th Gen game I have played to date.

To qualify that, I don't think it was the worst game, just that it was a horrendous let down IMHO.

Fable was soooo much fun, so easy to get into, so intuative on the controls.

Fable 2 just seemed to such the fun out of it, and removing the "manna" meant using spells just went out of the window. It became about button bashing.

I don't even talk to me about the dog.... what a stupid steaming pile of excrement that idea was.

i cant compare the two as i have never played the first installment.
i didn`t think it was that bad, the controls and spell selections can be quite fiddly and the dog is rather pointless as he is suppose to help you but never really seems to attack.

on the upside there is a lot to do. i would have liked the world to be a lot bigger but for a british game whcih i think it is, not half bad.

call of duty:world at war - online only.
is one of the best games iv played in years..... well considering i havent played any other games aprt from that and fifa 09 but that game has lost all credibility in my book. the people at ea are trying to hard to make the game real and have slowed the play down considerably.

i agree albino. i have never really seen the appeal for FIFA. i`d much rather play PES2009. the graphics for FIFA are good, but id rather have better gameplay then graphics and thats why i choose pro.

even with the half arsed kits and dodgy stadium names.

I was disappointed with Fable 2 as well and finished it pretty quickly.
The original Fable was much more fun and involving,
Jade Empire 2 would have been better.

FEAR 2 is growing on me.

The graphics are very basic, the music is even worse, there is very little variation between civilisations in terms of equipment & skills so it doesn't really matter what you choose and once you've played the game a couple of times, then you've seen all it can do. The expansion packs give a few extra scenarios but very little else for standard gameplay.

BUT, It's the one game I keep going back to time & again so there must be something about it that's addictive! They tarted up the graphics and gave lots of extras in Age of Empires III but that sits in its box while I stay with II. It's like a favoured and well thumbed book, there are no surprises but you can read it again and again.

I think the graphics still look good, especially in a high resolution, and I don't really care about music that much to be honest. As for "seen everything it can do" well, it's an RTS game so it's about playing strategy rather than progressing to "see more" so that doesn't really matter.

I do think there should have been more variety in graphics between the different cultures, though (having japanese, european and native american swordsmen all appear identical looks shoddy) and more variety in the maps but overall I think it holds up very well and, despite what you say, I think there's a great deal of variety between the different civilisations, especially with the "Conquerors" expansion.

If I have a major problem with it then it's the same as with a lot of RTS games - too much emphasis on resource-gathering and an unrealistic ability to "spawn" troops whereever you build the correct building even if it's nowhere near a population centre.

I enjoyed 'Fable' until the extremely tedious Arena mission where you had to fight wave after wave of bad guys without the option to save. I've played it twice, reached the scorpion thing the second time before getting killed, and will probably never play the game again because I really can't be bothered. 1/10 for thoughtful design, chaps.

I wish they'd make another Monkey Island! Instead, it's all that action nonsense from LucasArts, one Star Wars or Indiana Jones after another smiley - cross
