I thought it was trolling, too, but apparently the mods disagree. I wonder how much blame they deserve for the current state of affairs. I'd always considered myself pretty tolerant, but over the last few months I've yikesed a handful of posts rather than respond, and they've all been negated. It leaves me wondering what, if any, rules we actually have here.
In retrospect, he did admit his mother is spewing obvious and blatant lies, which may be the most honest thing I've ever seen him post. The point of me making all that noise is that I want Della to see that she's a liar. She refuses to admit it, but at least her son can see it.

Blathers, you could always add the post link to this thread:

Apparently there needs to be a 'pattern' of trolling shown - which the previous offensive post by * didn't clearly show? But a few more posts on the above thread ought help show this.

I dunno I think moderation is *mainly* fairish but there are isolated examples where it doesn't seem to be.
I was pretty hacked off about a couple of my posts that got pulled during the election threads but I have chilled out about it now .
Della does appear to get the "rub of the green" in regards to moderation but that is the way things go. I rather like the fact that her hateful bile stays up.
It pleases me inordinately to see soooo many new people seeing her for what she is and pulling her. No longer just the dirty s. I am still trying hard to just ignore her (apart from possibly commenting here) but still finding it difficult.
I now find I dont want to take part in threads where she is ...

This is what trolls want - not saying she IS a troll btw.
Do not give her the pleasure of knowing she has 'won'. It is a good character building exercise to rise above it all and carry on posting. I find it helps me in real life as well and in some ways it is good to have someone to practice good discussions on and address baseless rubbish that people spout. I would however prefer to address well thoughtout truthful stuff that i do not agree with.

Az haz the solution. Don't feed Trolls; but long term tracking will build up a body of evidence for a permanent fix.

Well in fact that was Batty's idea - and I think is a very good solution as well. She also contacted the Italics and made them aware of the problem and the thread she started. So just a matter of time . . .
It was interesting to see a lot of people posting their 'troll post links' there that I usually have little contact with, so I would never have seen those threads that * had trolled on otherwise. So I think that Batty is providing quite a good h2g2 community service.

I find this thread rather unpleasant and to me it smacks of bullying. The few occassions I have posted in political threads i have found myself rounded on probably because I mostly post in 'silly' threads and don't post in the manner expected by the polical mafia. The few times I have come across della in political threads I find myself in strong disagreement with her but so what, it takes all sorts to make a world.
I'll probably have links posted now giving examples of my non politically correct language, wrong doing and hot headedness, like I've experienced in politico threads. The spirit of Stalin is alive and well on some parts of hootoo.
For god sakes some people should lighten up a bit and be more tolerant in the mad and creative spirit of Douglas Adams. This thread is probably making him turn in his grave

In fairness...I think many of us would have a certain sympathy with you. We would dearly love to be tolerant. We - well, I anyway - would dearly welcome intelligent counter-argument and contrarianism. But we're at the end of our tethers for many, many reasons. The *most* trivial of these is the constant diversions from the topic caused by having to rebut fictional information sources. Bur that's before we even start on the unpleasant personal stuff.
As for the tarbrush of political-correctness: You're more than welcome to disagree with me in ways which are calculated to make steam gush from my ears. If done well it's a great contribution to any debate. But if you anyone uses language that I consider to be derogatory, I will call them on it. But thyat's not what we're discussing here, is it?

In fact, those are probably the sorts of comments that people found most irksome. They are both defensive and aggressive and do not add to any debate (including this one).

Well as far as I am concerned this thread is now my scratching post for whenI am ish.
I simply dont posses the self restraint to debate with Della anymore. I am also fed up with the reactions that seem to be garnered when anyone takes issue with her. See Goshos "resignation" thread from the "forum".
Wish we had a smiley.

Yeah right because there have been millions of dissenters shipped off to gulags, no sorry I mean thousands, no wrong again I meant hundreds.
No lets get this right I'll chaeck the figures and what do I find....not one person executed for holding political opinions different to anyone elses.

If you can post cr@p and cant stand people telling you its cr@p maybe its *you* that should think first before posting rather than whineing because people dont just put up with you posting in a way you *know* is not acceptable in certain threads.

Still, I hate feeling like I have to pussyfoot around the forum in case everyone thinks I am just Della Warring.
As I predicted in this thread ages ago anytime a former DA pulls Della on anything we are either:-
a) Bullying her.
or
b) Flame Warring.
I dont want people thinking like that about me and my hootoo pals.

I think you are taking it too much to heart, FB. I certainly haven't stopped debating with Della/Apple and I don't see why you should worry if some others second guess your motives.
I think you should just keep posting when you feel like it - can't please all of the people all of the time . . .

I don't think you have to pussyfoot anywhere. Good debate is it's own advocate and is dragged down by cheap comments.

Um, because you have a warped and exaggerated negative personal opinion of me that (thankfully) almost nobody else shares?
I tried to point out why you perhaps got a less than welcome response on certain threads - you took it as a personal attack and then made this pathetic snide remark about me.
Fine. Keep it up. But don't expect people to start treating you any differently.

So you don't think its fair to complain about a statement comparing some people you argued with on the internet to someone responsible for millions of deaths then?
Perhaps there are a number of unwritten debating house-rules, but honestly they're not rocket science, just common courtesy and learning not to get wound up when someone disagrees with you.
There is no clique, honest.
