'Where's the fun in that?'
well, it's sort of like Dick Cheney 'hunting' caged quail now, isn't it? It's not really my sort of fun.

Fair point, but as this is one of the few active threads on h2g2 one has to get one's kicks where one can.

You've no doubt noticed that warner keeps repeating the same stock phrases whenever anyone asks him to think. It's because thinking is painful to him so he has found away to avoid it.
The purpose of the art of hypnosis is to disconnect the mind from sensory input so that it can, without distraction, resolve itself for some predetermined suggestion. Kind of like when you reboot your computer because ther's so much crap going on that it crashes.
The religious version of this is called davening. It means to repeat the same prayer over and over so that the world disappears and you achieve a trance state, disconnected from reality. Catholics do it with rosaries. A repeated physical motion helps. Think of the rocking retarded at the Wailing wall. Think of facing Mecca five times a day and butting your head on a rug.
Think of a tiger pacing back and forth in her cage. It is a form of insanity caused be living in a world that you can't control, so you leave it.

Taff, you're coming across as a warmonger. That's not my personal position. Regards the "Ottoman Empire", I've already implied that the Muslims have the main blame for its fall.
>>the Palestinians give the reason for the conflict as Israel stole their land, yet here we are with Islam attacking the Jew<<
Tut, tut. Islam doesn't attack anything. It's a "religion" or way of life prescribed by Almighty God for those who believe in the wisdom of Qur'an.
I'm not qualified to say Irish Republicanism is right, or Zionism is right etc. but please, do not accuse religion for mankind's squabbles.
Peace be with those who follow Divine guidance.

<<Mohammad Amin al-Husayni (Arabic: محمد أمين الحسيني‎, properly transliterated al-Husseini,[1] 1895/1897 - July 4, 1974), a member of the al-Husayni clan of Jerusalem, was a Palestinian Arab nationalist and Muslim leader in the British Mandate of Palestine. From 1921 to 1948, he was the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem, and played a key role in opposition to Zionism.>>

you profess to know the will of god yet will not enter into simple explanation with one who wishes to know the nature of the soul, you simply stonewall and quote scripture
therefore i will attack until you surrender and enter the discussion in a rational manner or withdraw from the fight

>>simple explanation with one who wishes to know the nature of the soul, you simply stonewall and quote scripture<<
That's where I get my knowledge from, studying scripture. Living in the world also expands our knowledge; talking to thers, travel etc.
I'm not here to prove the Scripture or God's existence. If you don't wish to believe in it, for some reason, it's not for me to persuade you to believe anything. But, imo, it's better if you believed in eternal life, because I'm convinced it's true, and you can't prove otherwise.
If I'm wrong, I don't lose anything. If you're wrong ...
Peace be with those who follow Divine guidance.

Do you never wonder who wrote the scriptures and why they wrote them?

>>Do you never wonder who wrote the scriptures and why they wrote them?<<
Occasionally, it's part of RE. But it doesn't make me doubt their authenticity, because I can see the result of faith in the world; other people, nations and myself. I can also see the difference between righteousness and arrogant falsehood.
Peace be with those who follow Divine guidance.

If it doesn't make you doubt their authenticity you really ain't thinking hard enough.
What do you mean by arrogant falsehood?

I have often questioned, what has become of the Gods that are now considers just myths. At the time of their being worshipped I would suspect they were believed in every bit as mush as current Gods are now believed?

That's where I get my knowledge from, studying scripture.
and if the scripture is wrong, then your knowledge is faulty
and before you say scripture cannot be wrong for it is the word of god, answer me this
what happened to Jonah??

Have you not heard of the saying:
"Pride comes before a fall".
Well that's what I'm referring to. When mankind doesn't like the look of something, it might be they don't wish to change something they're doing regularly and enjoy, they protest and deny, but the only ones that lose are ourselves. Actually, it's of satan's doing as he wishes to stop us receiving enlightenment. If we decide to believe, we don't have to change our lives more than we wish. It's for our own benefit, and if we can't stop smoking or drinking etc, we just keep it in our heart that it's bad and keep trying to stop.
And it appears arrogant to Believers, when mankind suggests that they are not in need of guidance, just like my 13 year old who thinks she's grown up when I try to advise her.

Have a word with yourself. Satan? You are an adult and you believe in Satan?
I hope your 13 year old escapes intact.

warner:
Saint Paul instructed the church at Corinth that preaching without interpretation, without explaining so that the auditors could understand, was pointless and of no use to the mission of the Church. A number of people here, some of them respectfully, have asked yo to explain some of the things you say, but you generally have either refused or offered explanations which are simply more confusing. I'm not sure why you are not interested in taking Paul's advice.
I'm also confused by this sentence:
'it's better if you believed in eternal life, because I'm convinced it's true, and you can't prove otherwise.'
it's better if we believe in eternal life because *you* are convinced it's true? because we can't prove otherwise?
First of all, why is your conviction of more validity than any one else's?
Second, do you believe in everything that can't be disproved? Why not?
I seriously don't understand the way you put your ideas together. I don't understand how they can be integrated into a structure which can have any consistency. Most of all, I don't understand why you explicitly have no desire to explain yourself, although your earlier agreement with me that communication is impossible goes a long way. Given it all, I don't understand why you continue to post your warnings to a world which you have stated will never be able to hear and understand the warnings. You are speaking in tongues with no one to interpret.
'Now, brothers, if I come to you and speak in tongues, what good will I be to you, unless I bring you some revelation or knowledge or prophecy or word of instruction? Even in the case of lifeless things that make sounds, such as the flute or harp, how will anyone know what tune is being played unless there is a distinction in the notes? Again, if the trumpet does not sound a clear call, who will get ready for battle? So it is with you. Unless you speak intelligible words with your tongue, how will anyone know what you are saying? You will just be speaking into the air. Undoubtedly there are all sorts of languages in the world, yet none of them is without meaning. If then I do not grasp the meaning of what someone is saying, I am a foreigner to the speaker, and he is a foreigner to me. So it is with you.'
1 Corinthians 14:6-12
