re Brittanica :
Anhaga,
At the time it became US based, I remember thinking it was an utter tragedy but now? Not really - a little sad maybe, but after all, it's Britannica in name only...
At a cost of $1,300 I wouldn't buy one today (though for what it is, that cost is really quite small) ...
... and as that article said, as soon as it's published it's out-of -date.
The family copy didn't survive our emigration for some reason as yet unexplained - maybe I should give thanks to squigs for reminding me - or hmm, maybe not.
The on-line cost isn't so bad either - US$70 /year - if you're that way inclined.

I see the apocalypse is on its way (Britannica no longer in print, but somebody beat me here to report it.)
Another earthquake, btw. Tokyo. 7.1, they say right now.

"I've slept With 1000 Women" Claims Corrie Star.
William Roche.
By his looks, his listless emotional and intellectual poverty and his lack of any positive demeanor, he's exaggerated the number by a factor of about 1000, and all he did was actually sleep.
If he managed to do anything more than that, he's not just a slut, but a very boring yet nasty one, who misuses women.

>>Metropolitan Police officers assaulted autistic boy
It's certainly very sad that he was subjected to disability discrimination and false imprisonment.
There are some facts I'd like to know; why were the police called, unless it was a fairly serious situation which was out of control? How should they have dealt with this boy, given "he was much too big and strong" for them and he "could not swim but had no fear of the water nor indeed any knowledge of its danger".
