China plans to spend in 2012 just over "$100 billion on military defence", shocker: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-china-17249476

In the same story "Washington, which spends about $740bn on defence each year, ... "

Other news: US spending on pets 'passes $50bn'. Analysts say the pet services industry will continue to see strong growth in 2012 ... http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-17243094

Knocking down and breaking the gravestones of the "christian imperialists and zionists" in free Benghazi, Libya: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-17244211

They also damaged a "Cross of Remembrance", but maybe as a symbol of christianity, atheists would have ambiguous (?) sentiments on that particular matter.

In my case, not particularly. Many people end up with some sort of religion based memorial whether that are adherents / believers or not - certainly members of the armed services do. And the memorial is for the person and not for the religion isn't it?

Vladimir Putin has declared victory in Russia's presidential elections, returning for a third term after spending the last four years as the country's PM.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-17252190

Putin was followed by film cameras as he rode bare-chested astride a polar bear into the polling station where he burned his cross into the ballot paper with his x-ray heat vision.

Silk is an unbelievably strong and flexible material.
The Mongols used it as armour.
As a shirt it will stop an arrow and blunt a blow from a sword.
But what of its more peaceful uses:

There seems to be more than enough evidence that civilians are being slaughtered by the Assad regime. This type of slaughter will create eternal enmity and unrest. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-middle-east-17255912

This leaders' boycott of François Hollande is simply not clever

http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/2012/mar/05/leaders-boycott-francois-hollande-france

"This week's edition [of the Spiegel] spells it out rather eloquently: a European coalition of rightwing leaders has discreetly formed to boycott France's Socialist presidential candidate François Hollande."

<<Hollande may be on to something with his plan to renegotiate the European treaty and tax the uber-rich by 75%. Could it be that a majority of Europeans would also favour such plans in their home country? Could it be that some of Hollande's proposals feel too fiery for austerity tsars Cameron, Merkel, Monti and Rajoy? <<<

Could it be that the Mafia-Markets needs the whole Europe governed by "their people"?

Could it be that people, common people already know that the austerity measures are solving nothing, instead, those measures, applied by the same who created the problems, are making the rich richer and those who weren´t poor are entering poverty?

The measures seek to privatise all kind of public services and to deteriorated the already smashed workers´rights.

Meanwhile, no measures for tax havens, no Tobin tax, not progressive taxing...

This is just wrong and a bit sickening - http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-17288762

"Remploy - which provides work for people with disabilities - is planning to close 36 of its 54 factories, putting more than 1,700 jobs at risk."

It's disgusting all right - just to save money - at the expense of disabled people who have been happy working there in a hospitable environment where they feel at home, many for years.

And equally disgusting is the naive support given by the charities (such as Mencap) for enforced social-engineering 'normalisation' reasons.

From the same link:

Phil Davies, national secretary of the GMB union, said: "It is a disgrace that a number of large charities, set up to help disabled people and run by very well-paid, able-bodied people, have misled the British public and provided the government with the cover to undertake this act of sacking disabled workers. Shame on them."
