There was indeed, and the legend is that he chose his name after walking through a pair of doors with the eponymous sign written across them both.

I knew a lass at school whose name really was Coral Isles.
I also worked with 2 men in the same office who had the unfortunate surnames of Grewcock and Horlock. They were known universally as Lockers and Cockers.

One of my cousins with the first name Theresa married a bloke with the surname Green and voluntarily took his surname.
Always thought she was a bit mad.

A friend of mine went out with a chap who worked on the railways. For some reason he was seconded on to the Royal Train. He was briefing the Duke of Edinburgh once on the people he was going to introduce him to.
Chap: "The Station Master's Mr Glasscock"
Chookie Embra: "I bet you can see him coming"

Gordon Brown on course to win election.

Probably a rogue survey but a mere 2 point lead for the Tories which given the innate anti Tory bias would give Labour the most seats but not a majority.

If they get another term, I'm leaving the country Undoubtably there will be a collective of relief from a great number of people here if I did

That's why I love you Norti..your ability to not take yourself too seriously. Are all Monday clubbers as cute as you?
Seriously though we might be heading for a Kinnock/Major scenario. When Major beat Kinnock in '92..I felt like leaving the country, it was such a kick in the guts. But Kinnock, although sorting out a lot of nonsense about the Labour party, and almost making them electable again, might have actually made a bigger balls up than Major. But the poisoned chalice fell to Major..and the rest is history.
So maybe people are thinking do we really trust Call me Dave? But if Labour win it will be another poisoned chalice. Come on you Tories
A hung parliament looks most likely at present. Unless the Falklands kicks off

Cameron seems to be doing his best to lose it. Claiming it is his patriotic duty to oust Brown sounds like a incredibly stupid statement to me.

>>A hung parliament looks most likely at present. Unless the Falklands kicks off<<
If that happened, it's possible there wouldn't be an election at all: if the monarch decides it's against the national interest, they can refuse the request to dissolve Parliament and force an election. An election in the middle of an ongoing war might count as against the national interest. Unlikely but possible

OMG We could even end up with a wishy washy LibDem government I would definately leave the country Though it would create an employment boost for rent boys
Monday Club Tory and Member of the Countryside Alliance, I don't think I could be any worse than if I out a bag over my head, a bowel of oranges and a picture of Margret Thatcher on the table, FA.
Quite frankly 'Call me Dave' appears to me like a metamorphised ressurrection of Tony Blair Why should Britain tremble

Yes norti..those were the days, when Tories got back to basics, with bags over the heads and oranges stuffed in their mouths. my all time favourite story from that happy 18 year period of my younger days.. aside from the David Mellor/Anonia de Sancha affair...which was a close second.
LibDem government? I'd rather see Pol Pot in charge I think we are in full agreement about the undesirability of those with stakes sticking into their bottoms ever being in charge...and god help us all if they hold the balance of power in a hung parliament.

Can we stop calling it a "hung" parliament?
Chance would be a fine thing.
It's more accurate to call it a "balanced" parliament.
