The death of Harry Patch has pulled a cord with me today, just like the death of Henry Allington last week brought a tear to my eye.
He was one of The Last Tommys if not the last.

Its a shame that my Childrens generation will probably never hear about him and the great things men like him did for our country.
May he and Henry rest in peace .

A Sunday Times article by a journalist experiencing swine flu. What most surprised me (see article and reader comments) is that a lot of people phone their doc and say what they want. Rather like take-away!

Preventive [!] antibiotics, penecillin.... it's mind boggling.

Over on the swine flu thread someone posted some research data from an American lab that showed about 80% of people in the States with a flu have the swine variety. Less than 5% have a seasonal variant and the rest couldn't be coded.

Previous studies of these type have shown the USA to be a fairly accurate model for the Northern Hemisphere in general so the proportions over here will be similar.

Basically, if you've got a flu, chances are it's swine flu.

The Swine Flu Times 'story', firstly, if the Dr did ask whether the writer wanted Tamiflu, no wonder it's being used by everyone...it should be up to the Dr to decide that.

Secondly, I wonder if the writer would have taken the Tamiflu if she hadn't been a writer as it makes a better story?
